I think the surreal and fucked up thing about AI media is that at best it produces stuff with cultural merit with zero-to-negative artistic merit and wrestling with that absurd duality is the first step in putting an end to it all.

it was like the perfect era of parents still getting physical newspapers daily, them being laid out on the kitchen table while everyone got ready, and the comics being the only thing a kid would be interested in reading from that pile of paper while mom/dad read everything else.
why did so many millennials read so many newspaper comics? easily 60 percent of my reading diet in elementary/middle school was collected editions of calvin and hobbes, farside, dilbert, peanuts, doonesbury (!), foxtrot (?!?) and i know im not alone. historically unique phenomenon
rather than talk about Scott Adams I want to talk about something weirder (me). Who else was really into Dilbert when you were 12. Who else was like, boy, I can't wait to work a cubicle job

but old games are trying to simulate the actual real-life table experience, because that's what their actual buyer would know! So you "call" for real with a button and in some games choose from a full menu of calls. If you don't know what you're doing you commit a foul, lose heaps of points.
