Did you know the last common ancestor of #zebrafish & humans was ~450 million years ago? A whole genome duplication event (3R) occurred early in the teleost fish phylogeny. Despite this event, zebrafish & humans have about the same number of chromosomes (25 & 23, respectively). #ZebrafishFunFacts 🧪

Don’t be glum about the long, cold winter. Look around: the trees are busy, not sleeping. When the temperature permits, cells in this bud are dividing, maturing into flowers, leaves, stems. The cambium, maker of all the trees, is preparing for its spring festivities. Be like a tree: keep growing.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.
