I highly recommend taking the time, once a month or so, to send someone a fan letter. Not to me (although that’s fine, too). Just reach out to a stranger* and say: “I love your work.” I did it this week & it felt great, sharing my admiration & awe.

The best Christmas movies and music are all a little sad. The problem with a lot of contemporary Christmas media is that it's too afraid to let the problems be too real and the inherent sadness of the season isn't allowed to permeate
