The UK Government responded to a petition for free bus travel for all over-60s in England, outside London. It highlighted the £700 million cost and the need for careful consideration of changes, with local authorities able to offer extra concessions.

Who remembers the proposed Q-Master (QRM)?
Colin Curtis OBE (1926–2012) introduced the QRM, a double-deck bus with a side-mounted engine, wheelchair-accessible flat floor, and modular design. At 9 tonnes, it was 25% lighter and 10% more fuel-efficient. Project was stalled in 2003.
