It's wild but not surprising that last week the White House was leaning into "these seditious Democrats dared suggest that troops were receiving illegal orders!!!" and this week they are scrambling to figure out who to blame for issuing illegal orders.

For the crowd who thinks that Trump has cleansed the Epstein files of his name - does anybody honestly think he won't get caught? His coverup staff are so incompetent they couldn't even doctor the Epstein prison video without leaving obvious signs of tampering.

The voters sent a message with last week's elections, but the Republicans have chosen to ignore it. apnews.com/article/trum...
Trump's Republican Party insists there's no affordability crisis and dismisses election losses
Many Republican leaders insist there's no problem with the GOP's policies, the party's message or President Donald Trump’s leadership, despite big losses in this month's elections.

The relentlessly opportunistic Marjorie Taylor Greene hasn't had a change of heart, much less politics. She is just literate enough to read the writing on the wall. She knows that Trump is damaged goods now. So she may have taken to singing like a bird, but she's really just a canary in a coal mine.

I honestly couldn't care about the Epstein files - I consider it a distraction from talking about the real problems our nation faces. But it sure is making Trump nervous, so I'm here for it.

I tend to think the deal made by the Senate Democrats was a) orchestrated, and b) a cave-in. This article points out some positives of the deal. One positive not listed: Speaker Johnson might have to bring the house into session, which could force a discharge petition vote on the Epstein Files.

The funny thing is, Trump was on those ballots in a way. Voters have already gotten a taste of what his second term would bring, and their message was clear: they want no part of the chaos that comes with him.

Contact your Democratic reps in Congress and let them know they need to keep standing firm against the Republicans on the shutdown. Democrats have a messaging problem, so despite last night's results, we still need to do the messaging for them.
Swing district Republicans face Sophie's choice: follow Trump off a cliff, or split with him to save their own careers. Democrats win by forcing it.

Why Charlie Kirk Mattered So Much to the Right
More than anyone not named Trump, he changed the way conservatives understood modern media.

Hillary, you were right about everything, including the "deplorables" part.
On the left, my warning from September 2024 about what Trump 2.0 would look like. On the right, recent headlines.

I wish I'd been wrong. But because Trump is following a classic authoritarian playbook, it’s up to state and local governments to push back on this tyranny while it’s still possible.

Wonder what Putin was saying while he had the stage all to himself. Pundits are saying Trump got nothing from this "summit". I disagree; we'll be talking about his dumpster-fire diplomacy instead of Epstein for a while.
Q for those w experience in politics or diplomacy:

Is there *any* other example of a US prez, on US soil, letting a foreign leader control the mic for a very long time, in his own language, w/o consecutive translation, before letting US prez say anything all?

I don't know of any.

Humiliating.

A government-sanctioned "truth arbiter" will soon arrive at CBS. Their role will be to ensure that journalists do not criticize this Administration or express views that conflict with its agenda.

This is a betrayal—not just of journalistic independence, but of the public trust. 🧵

For me the take-away from this poll is that for all the attention on the Epstein scandal, it hasn't altered GOP/MAGA support for Trump a single bit. The amount of hopium from the Left surrounding the scandal is deceiving. news.gallup.com/poll/692879/...

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.
