1967-OTD #CarlYastrzemski was rewarded for his Triple Crown season with his beloved #RedSox in which he led them to the World Series, with the AL MVP award. Yaz became a HOF’er as the only AL player with >3K hits & >400 hrs. Played his whole career guarding the Green Monster at Fenway. Bravo!⚾️👏🏻❤️

1851-OTD NYC author Herman Melville released his classic novel of the pursuit of the Great White Whale, Moby Dick. It has been a hit in English literature classes and among the public ever since. So much wisdom in this saga. My favorite quote is a short one - “Ignorance is the parent of fear”

1979 l-OTD 2 of my fav baseballers, HOF’er Willie Stargell,slugging 1b/LF 4 the #PittsburghPirates,& #Cardinals 1b Keith Hernandez,shared the NL MVP award.Willie led the “We are Family” Bucs 2 a WS win.Keith hit .344 & was his usual Gold Glover at the 1b bag.Keith went on 2 be a #Mets legend. ⚾️👏🏻❤️

1953-OTD General George C. Marshall became the 1st & only American General 2 receive the Nobel Peace Prize 4 his plan 2 rebuild war ravaged Europe after WW2.The Marshall plan did more 2 defeat the Communists than anything else.Good lessons here about the importance of supporting our Allies👏🏻🇺🇸

One of my greatest heroes in baseball. He appropriately entered the #HOF in 1992 & earned a statue in front of CitiField⚾️👏🏻❤️

Today would have been the 100th birthday of the undisputed King of Late Night TV, Johnny Carson. His was was the greatest form of entertainment you could get for free. Comedians, great comic sketches, musicians, actors all peppered his show with must-C-📺. Thanks for the memories Mr. Carson🙏👏🏻❤️
