Anyway, one little bit of joy in my life right now is that I was able to repaint the house and redecorate my bedroom and when I’m able to get the Christmas stuff up, that will be the best part.

If they’re not warmongering, they’re doing mass layoffs, harassing migrants, lying to the public, facilitating insane price increases, implementing absurd restrictions on national cultural events to suit goodness knows who, and basically trying to tank our economy. Who is winning here?

Did 16.5km in 2 hrs and 53 mins this morning and while I definitely will need to take the rest of today off, I’m proud of how well this half marathon training is coming along.

Got ingredients for a simple charcuterie board and I’m on my third straight day of eating that, knowing full well that eating so much cheese is inviting a migraine, so 😬

Writing development: deleted 7k words off my novella to improve my mental health. Now to rework this into something I actually like.

Running progress: finished week 1 of my half marathon training with approximately 21km (accumulated total.) 7k + 5k + 9k

Had my third road race for the year today (one 6k and two 5k,) and I’ve improved my times considerably. From 1 hr to complete the 6k, to 53.07 for the first 5k to 47.20 to complete the second. Next race is a 10k and aiming for 1 hr 10 minutes.

Started running for 5ks in June, walking before that, and I think my shoes are done. Which, yay, new shoes time but also wow!

I seem to have caught a 5k bug. One race a month is not a bad idea, is it?

Took part in my second 5k for the year, at the Cipriani College of Labour, and it rained so much, and so hard to the end, that I was soaked to the bone. But I had fun so I need to do more of these.

Nineteen years ago this week, an unexpected conversation at Readercon led to the creation of Clarkesworld. The day before, I had no interest in working in publishing. As hard as it is sometimes, I can't imagine not doing it now.

This is so wrong. This man needed to be under the jail.
NEW YORK (AP) — Sean “Diddy” Combs acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering, convicted of prostitution offense.

Went for the walk today that I was supposed to do before the 6k and I feel like I’ve forgotten how to walk? Or maybe I was just holding myself stiffly because I’m still a little sore from the race? Either way, it was nice to be outside. The sermon by speakerphone was unexpected.

Did a 6k today with SewaTT and though it took me an hour, it was a fun time. Next time I’ll do it in less (as long as I don’t hurt my leg again 😭)

Happy Juneteenth!

Have a little clip of me reading from my Nebula & Sturgeon Award winning short story, TANTIE MERLE AND THE FARMHAND 4200, which is about an old woman, a robot & a goat--

--but also about personhood, acceptance, community & labor rights.

Throwing out shoes I bought and barely wore because a pandemic sent everyone indoors and the increasing heat dry-rotted them actually sucks. I can’t even give them away because they’re crumbling.

It’s the way this book is fighting me. What do you mean these sentences feel like a summary and not proper narration. What is going on?

Not me thinking the rain has stopped only for thunder to go off like a shot overheard. Welcome, welcome rainy season.

Made my furthest distance and latest cycling goal today! 8.2 miles / 13.2km into town. Tired but accomplished.

Writing historical fiction is a whole lot of using an object / term / slang, pausing, and then quickly searching up its origins to see if it fits. But also giving myself a little leeway because sometimes it doesn’t matter.

Back in the “writing books is a lot of fun” mood and let me tell you, I’m having a great time.
