Just a few things I wanted to write a little about. To view some details you will have to view the original size. From left to right, top to bottom: 1. A spiral galaxy with some long tidal streams of stars circling around it. 2. A strange spiral galaxy with many blue galaxies or smaller pieces around it. Either this is just a coincidental alignment of similar little galaxies around a large spiral or it is a somewhat strange merging process going on. Or it is a combination of merging, a strange spiral, and line of sight alignments. Is that an Einstein cross at the upper right within the very red, faint, spiral galaxy? Edit 2014 Jul 12: Some people are calling these jellyfish galaxies. Good name! Here's an article. 3. A bright, yellow, and red striped galaxy or a cosmic gummy worm? I am having difficulty imaging what, exactly, this striped bar looks like without the distortion. 4. A striking example of galaxy lensing. The faint blue spiral with a very red core is seen mirroring itself on the uper left side while yet another visage appears in the lower right corner. 5. Another set of three copies of the same long, blue galaxy. Are some of the smaller ones highly distorted images of the same galaxy? It's hard to tell. For data used, see the description this image. North is up for all frames.

Some Destiny 2 cinematic concepts I painted during my time art directing at Axis Studios in Glasgow (rip 🖤)
Concept for the Dreaming City matte painting I would later create - this was for the Forsaken expansion I think? Pretty sure I had a big old scan of this skybox to use as reference. It shows a gleaming, scifi city in the distance, great mountains behind. Another Forsaken concept - this one featuring the shrine that Uldren reawakens in. I also went on to paint the background matte for this shot. It shows a beautiful, Rivendell-esque mountain landscape with a shrine and warm light. Early establishing concept for the look of the Warmind cinematic. Ana Bray standing on a cliff edge, her crashed ship behind. I painted several of these to express my idea for the lighting and tone of this cinematic. Interior concept for the Curse of Osiris cinematic. I joined this project midway through and had some block models to work from. My job was helping define the look and atmosphere for this one, in particular getting the lighting and mood right. It shows a blocky interior with tons of mist.

The Deepest View Ever Obtained of Centaurus A (NGC 5128) This image is the realisation of a long time dream of mine: Taking a deep sky image with more than 100 hours of exposure. I set out on this mission in early 2013 and after having gathered 120 hours of data on 43 different nights in Feb-May 2013 I present what I believe is the deepest view ever obtained of Centaurus A. This is likely also the deepest image ever taken with amateur equipment, showing stars as faint as magnitude 25.45. I spent around 40 hours and analysing processing the data, with the goal of presenting this majestic Southern galaxy as it has never been seen before - with all the main features showing in one single image, in order to truly get a grasp of what this intriguing object is all about. Visible are some unique features, some of which have never been imaged before by amateurs: * A set of enormous reddish filaments associated with the relativistic jets. * The complete shell structure of the extended halo, showing both the faint outer shells and brighter inner ones. * 709 of the catalogued globular clusters orbiting the galaxy. * Integrated Flux Nebulae permeating the entire field of view around the galaxy. The brightly glowing bar portion of NGC 4151 as seen by Hubble. It is a Seyfert galaxy, which means that it has an actively accreting black hole at its nucleus, which presents itself to us as an intensely bright source. The two brighter portions near the top and bottom of the frame are where the bar terminates, and some fainter spiral arms extend outward from them. A widefield view of the galaxy by Adam Block is available to help with context: Click! Mitchell Revalski of Georgia State University contacted me regarding the possibility of processing some of the objects he is using in his thesis, and I have been looking through the data to see what I can do. What's important in this galaxy are the brightly illuminated and glowing hydrogen clouds near the nucleus. They are a bit difficult to make out in this image because the narrowband filters required to highlight these structures were not available in a matching field of view, but some older WF/PC2 data of only the nucleus was available, so I made use of that in another image. Hubble Snaps Heavyweight of the Leo Triplet - From Goddard Space Flight Center - https://flic.kr/p/7S5R2Z
Image Release April 8, 2010 Hubble has snapped a spectacular view of M 66, the largest "player" of the Leo Triplet, and a galaxy with an unusual anatomy: it displays asymmetric spiral arms and an apparently displaced core. The peculiar anatomy is most likely caused by the gravitational pull of the other two members of the trio. The unusual spiral galaxy, Messier 66, is located at a distance of about 35 million light-years in the constellation of Leo. Together with Messier 65 and NGC 3628, Messier 66 is the member of the Leo Triplet, a trio of interacting spiral galaxies, part of the larger Messier 66 group. Messier 66 wins in size over its fellow triplets — it is about 100 000 light-years across. This is a composite of images obtained through the following filters: 814W (near infrared), 555W (green) and H-alpha (showing the glowing of the hydrogen gas).
