I had a big day with a lot of driving. Ow, my hips. My husband and I went to brunch with a longtime friend who was in town, then I drove an hour to attend a clothing swap. NOW my sore old body has very important work. I am lying down and being a good warm bed for TrifleCat to repose upon.

Sad girl. My complication has complications. Post-op/pre-op bummer ramble stashed in the sad-selfie ALT text.

Keep those aurora photos coming, dear friends and kind strangers. I can't check to see if we can see it this far south because the whole blasted SF Bay Area is blanketed in rain clouds! Feed me your beautiful sky colors!

We both have things to do. He's got to go face a long commute. We're in our own respective hurries, bustling. He pauses at the door, swings around, crosses the room to me, and smooches my cheek warmly before leaving. We've been a couple for 35 years, and he can still make my heart palpitate.

I'd be sadder to finish the exciting, imaginative, romantic and funny books, "The Clockwork Boys" and "The Wonder Engine" by T. Kingfisher, but it's all gunna be okay, because @tkingfisher.com is prolific, and I can enjoy that awesome voice many more times..

Interesting. The sky postcard faded as it dried, especially blues. Shall I go back and work another layer as an exercise in getting vividness? Shall I leave well enough alone, and make something else? Is it a paper thing, are these water color postcards especially pigment absorbant? Hmm.

DUCKIE! I painted my duckie. Yay.

The honey based Sennelier water color paints are being discontinued, and I scored the BIG set on supersale at Utrecht art supply. It has arrived. I procrastinated a while by meticulously assembling supplies, and finally painted. It's been years, but I can still make a messy pretty sky.

Hello pretty green neighbor! I'm so glad to see you. No, not in the house. There's no decent food for you in there. Let's walk you over to the rosebushes. What YOU need is a nice tasty meal of aphids!

Dark times. This disabled crone finds the news so disheartening, but today I saw a couple of Bluesky posts labeled "estrogen is powerful." I searched on the phrase, and saw a whole bunch more. Wow, just wondrous. Look at all these beautiful women, joining my team, even when it's hard. Welcome!

Why, hello little one!

It's hard to change the ancient migratory paths of trick or treaters. I live near a popular trick-or-treat street, I hear kids, but they're over THERE. Maybe I must buckle down and buy a couple of big inflatables. Even my classroom skelly can't help attract kids who just ain't walking this way.

PLEASE VOTE. I'm in my grey muppety hat-scarf with floppy dog ears, a good phone-it-in-nod-at-costumes for going to PT this afternoon. Can't wear whole costume there, gotta do serious balance/gait work. Important. Which clown nose over N-95 mask is better? Foam or rubber? Alt text has descripts.

Hey @bshuman.bsky.social. I think there was some cosmic error. My old long-time married ass got your cookie fortunes by mistake. Here you go.

There are a lot of readers here on Bluesky who love the charming portrait of bygone Irish village life "This Is Happiness," by Niall Williams, but I'd like to add that listening to the audio book read by Dermot Crowley is a particular deliciousness of its own. What a dear accent, what warmth!

She is both holding my weary spirit together with her soft purr, AND weighing heavy on my bladder. TrifleCat is multitasking.

Le sigh. Post-op inflammatory responses are whole big things. I do wish my body had a younger woman's healing rate, but she's doing her very best, and I'm proud of her. Goals for today are on track: stay on my antibiotic schedule, drink water, elevate legs, stay warm, pet cat.

@trevorkyler.bsky.social made this delight. This print is like moveable type with bugs! Each bug is its own smol lino block that he can arrange in a frame to make a print! I was charmed by the art and ordered it. I'm laid up so it took me a few days to open the mailer tube. Just LOOK at it!

The supermoon is tonight, going out this weekend was too ambitious, and I am punished, stuck inside. Recovery tedium is a THING. All who love me (or even vaguely like me,) please go look at the supermoon and comment with photos, or descriptions, or pennyrhymes, or magnificent panegyric poems.

I'm sorta kinda cooking. Today is my first real kitchen venture since hip muscle surgery on 9/8. Stove flame may still be dangerous, so it's an instapot night. I stood upright, assembled and chopped ingredients for a use-it or-lose-it soup, and now I rest and mutter pressure-cooking incantations.

Good morning, Bluesky. Okay. Good late morning. See Alt text for why I'm not out of the bedroom yet. But hey, I did it all, and all by myself, (okay, my husband DID make and bring me tea, but I DRANK IT. That's an operation, right?)
