Time for a new bird feeder, I guess. It happens. Sometimes bird feeders just explode. Natural causes.

Happy Tortula muralis moss, mysteriously able to live its best life on the barren wasteland of my mailbox bricks. Life finds a way.

Oh it's Squirrel time again, indeed. THOSE TAILS

Selfie shows me in layers of olive green, smiling wanly. I had a consult with my orthopedic surgeon today re: recurrence of swelling and continued low grade fevers after two recent hip surgeries, the attempted torn muscle repair, and the cleanup surgery and graft removal. Appt. report in ALT TEXT.

Another little fashion show from your favorite disabled maximalist. Long outfit descriptions stashed in the ALT texts. Happy New Year's Eve, Bluesky! I make it look GOOD, but I aspire to stop needing a walker in 2026. I wish us all healing, creativity, and better days ahead.

AMBROSE! OMG, there you ARE! I have heard you proclaim your ineffable presence, your regal might, in my yard, night after night, and at last I may see you? Today I may? Gushing descriptions in the ALT texts.

Well hello tiny one.

Last night in the dreaming, a number of my oldest friends found one another again. We were thrilled that so many of us were still around decades later, and we started a group chat called "A Gathering of Hopeless Meat." It was just as messy and rude as you'd expect. I love them so.

The discover feed truly improved my week. "Scoundrels Villains & Knaves: Disneyland, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Popular Culture" by Foxx Nolte, examines pirates, the pop-culture blend of fictional and historical iconography, through the lens of the Disney parks ride. @foxxnolte.bsky.social

Oooo! New friend! The backyard fountain where we spread seeds has visitors every day, but the crowd is quite consistent. Finches, juncos, mourning doves, squirrels, and the occasional bandtail pigeon, tit, or Steller's jay. TODAY a nuthatch came to call! Omg! I hope he comes back with pals!

I got a good selfie on my first try! It is officially a GOOD day. Fit description in alt text.

A wee fashions show. If one MUST spend months of one's time gimping around the house on a walker recovering from hip surgeries, one may as well enjoy looking glamorous while doing so!

The last supermoon of the year peeks at my backyard, and she is gloriously bright! My phone's not a good enough camera to catch the moon's face and craters, but I did manage to frame it with tree branches for interest.

The cleanup surgery of my torn-hip-muscle-revision surgery was yesterday, and the news is bad. My surgeon found deep infection, and had to remove the collagen allograft he gave me back in early September. My default mode is happiness, but I'm feeling depressed today. More nattering in ALT text.

I had a big day with a lot of driving. Ow, my hips. My husband and I went to brunch with a longtime friend who was in town, then I drove an hour to attend a clothing swap. NOW my sore old body has very important work. I am lying down and being a good warm bed for TrifleCat to repose upon.

Sad girl. My complication has complications. Post-op/pre-op bummer ramble stashed in the sad-selfie ALT text.

Keep those aurora photos coming, dear friends and kind strangers. I can't check to see if we can see it this far south because the whole blasted SF Bay Area is blanketed in rain clouds! Feed me your beautiful sky colors!
