BC weirdoes, misfits blamed for divorce rate VANCOUVER -- A city divorce lawyer said Thursday that British Columbia has Canada's highest divorce rate because it's a province of misfits and weirdos. "This province is essentially a place for the maladjusted," Neil Fleishman said in an interview. "The end-of-the-railway phenomena still applies, making BC the end of the line for the socially and economically droughted out." Fleishman was commenting on a Statistics Canada report that B.C. leads all provinces in its divorce rate of 333 per 100000 people, according to 1976 figures, the most recent available.
