Usb-C iPhones charges fine with usb-c dell 65W brick chargers.
USB-C charging is good but in low-end devices you may in fact have to try a few different low-power chargers to get it to recognize. Don't just assume either is broken immediately, it's very complex and sometimes just outright designed wrong. I have a screwdriver that only charges on one kind.
