To be clear, the "stupid" ideas shared by this 25-year-old "kid" included "I was racist before it was cool," "I want a eugenic immigration policy," and "normalize indian hate."

What Vance is saying is that openly calling yourself a racist eugenicist is no longer enough to be labeled a "bad dude."

Commute times along a few key routes into lower Manhattan are noticeably shorter after the start of congestion pricing. MTA estimated that it would mean 80,000 fewer vehicles entering the area EACH DAY. Better for people living there, people who actually need to drive, and the planet.

On the same day Brian Thompson was shot, a gang of men approached two teenagers and asked them if they spoke English. When they said no, the men stabbed them, killing one. Will these men receive the same treatment as Luigi Mangione? Or is all this reserved for the ruling class?

Who called the cops when a school shooter opened fire in Madison, Wisconsin, last week? A security guard? Teacher? No — the first call came from a second-grade student.

From 1966 to 2019, 97.7% of all mass shooters were men. The fact that the Madison school shooter was female is extremely unusual. But in her (alleged) manifesto she explicitly named previous mass shooters, all male, as inspiration.

Microplastics are literally everywhere, from the atmosphere to the ocean floor, from our brains to our balls (or placentas). Now, Chinese scientists have invented a new type of sponge using squid chitin that can filter up to 99.9% of microplastics out of water.

Local and state governments in the U.S. spend, on average, $407 per person on police. For comparison, Fortune 500 companies spend between $500,000 and $1 million per executive on security. Why, then, is the latter group possibly going to receive a special "hotline" to call if they feel scared?
Execs, Is Your Company Spending Enough on Your Personal Security?
Threats against executives are on the rise, and protecting business leaders has become more challenging as they spend more time at home. Should your company bolster security spending for its C-suite?

53 people are murdered by firearms in the U.S. every single day. And U.S. police solve, on average, less than half of all murders — one of the worst performances on record, and in the industrialized world, despite having far higher budgets.
More people are getting away with murder. Unsolved killings reach a record high
U.S. murder clearance or solve rates have hit an all-time low. Experts say mutual mistrust between police and some communities is creating a vicious cycle where unsolved killings breed more mistrust.

The study that sparked the hydroxychloroquine craze (Trump, Rogan...) has been retracted. It tested the drug on just 26 people. Of those, 6 weren't included in the data: 3 of them got sicker and 1 died. I guess one way to make a cure look good is to not count patients it didn't actually help!
