For Anna it was VERY important when she was younger, with some time she gets more comfortable with her appearance and starts experimenting with clothes, hair, etc.

Berenice (right) fell at first sight when they were in highschool. She though it was an impossible love because she was younger (only a year but y'know) and because she heard that Malva was a lesbian (Bere hadn't transitioned yet). But they became friends and years later they got married (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠)
