Just watched Conan O’Brien receive the Mark Twain Prize (it was filmed and now on Netflix)— it’s incredible. It’s really inspiring that someone can be so kind and so beloved and also so insanely funny/absurd.

His closing remarks were extraordinary… Watch it to the very end! You will feel good 🙏🏽

Bill Clinton banned assault weapons in 1994; mass shootings dropped by 43%.

George W. Bush and the GOP let the assault weapons ban expire in 2004; mass shootings increased by 245%.

These numbers tell the whole story.

The reason we are seeing floods in new places and wildfires in the “wet” season, the reason we spend hundreds of billions on disaster response, is that climate change makes bad weather more common and more intense. Climate inaction costs you money and puts you in danger.

My heart is breaking for all of Los Angeles and for everyone evacuating and struggling with loss.

Sending extraordinary gratitude to the firefighters working around the clock, risking their lives – and please remember that 30% of the fire crews are incarcerated people.

It is truly wild that it is estimated that more than 20 million people died of Covid and the prevailing vibe is that the world overreacted. That is an astonishing toll! More people died of Covid in the US than in the Civil War. www.pbs.org/newshour/hea...
