Insane how quickly the racist regression is happening in this country. Decades of progress being undone in weeks, without even any laws having to be passed. Just sheer intimidation from Trump and the right, and sheer cowardice from the corporations.

I would laugh, or muse about this as a great creative writing idea, if it weren’t so profoundly and painfully true.
Breaking "the government" and replacing the "deep state" civil servants with AI bots programmed by 20-something right wing Elon fanboys may sound like a great idea until it's time to eat an egg or a chicken sandwich without fear of getting sick, or deal with a hurricane or get on an airplane.

Notes from the Takeover, Part 1. This is the latest dispatch by historian Heather Cox Richardson, dated Monday, February 3, 2025. As she explicitly states, the “replacement of our constitutional system of government with the whims of an unelected private citizen is a coup.”

Walking down memory lane today and recalling this beautifully haunting Statue of Franz Kafka in #Prague. The 2003 sculpture by Jaroslav Róna, which depicts a miniaturized #Kafka riding a headless giant, is inspired by the author’s 1912 story “Description of a Struggle.”

Jorge Méndez Blake’s #art installation, The Castle (2017), lives rent free in my brain these days. Depicting the power of a single #book, The Castle by Franz Kafka, to disrupt this 75-foot-long wall will hopefully continue to #inspire us these next 4 years.
