Another great day at GHSCS. A highlight: UNITAID/WHO panel on maternal and child health. A lively discussion in which the new 5 pillars of action to make sure every woman and child has timely, affordable, and equitable access to lifesaving and quality assured MNH medicines across Africa by 2030.

GHSCS Day 2: Yesterday was official opening day! We had a packed day. I facilitated a panel called “Securing Access to Quality Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health Medicines: Procurement Pathways and Policy Levers.”

I brought two groups conference attendees (people who work in Global Health supply chain from all over the world) to visit Rwanda’s new Intelligence Center. They have been able to very rapidly digitize their healthcare system and monitor diseases in real time.

I’m glad to see bladder and pelvic health getting some press! Undoing the “just in case” pee habit is one of the crucial ways that pelvic floor therapists help patients overcome bladder symptoms including urinary urgency, frequency, and urge incontinence.

Every one of my patients have asked me why it took so long for a provider to figure out why they’re having pelvic issues. Here’s just one of the reasons why: 75% of medical residents have never been trained to examine vulvar anatomy, <40% learned to diagnose or manage female sexual dysfunction.

These past several months have been really challenging. These kinds of cuts directly impact my patients & my future research work. And yet, I know that because they are cutting & demonizing this work, it makes it a moral imperative for me to keep going. I won’t quit until all bodies are liberated.
