At airport extra early cause of delays, and someone told me they’ve been waiting since Saturday. Deep down I really hope they’re lying to me. Also is flying with air traffic control in disarray smart or stupid? Spent last week making sure my affairs were in order. 😳😬

I have a 4PM flight on Monday, got an email saying to show up at 10am the latest to be on standby for any delays, spending the day at the airport is not my idea of fun, especially when it’s a work trip. Also don’t like idea of flying when traffic controllers are a commodity these days.

As a scuba diver who has had (peaceful) shark encounters in the wild, I absolutely do not want operators teaching sharks to associate boats and divers with food.

There are very valid reasons you don’t feed wildlife on land. Don’t start doing it underwater.

Was talking with a friend about the future, tech, AI, work, life as we get older.

It hit me that what keeps me up is people!

My people, coworkers, customers, family, friends, some still trying to adapt to a world that won’t slow down.

We’ll figure out the tech, it’s the human part that’s harder 🙁

Apple & Google were destined to be tied together one way or another...so be it, if it gives us the Siri we have wanted and gave up on long ago.

Gemini to its credit has gotten monumentally better since its Bard release, and Gemini rebrand. It's so far better than Apple Intelligence...oh wait!

Don’t care as much as I used to about having a full battery especially when I’m home, sometimes I just let it die, trying to prepare for my life with a flip phone again 🤪

This is EXACTLY how it works.

Bought this place in 2018 for around $330k. Have put over $150k into it since then…foundation, all mechanicals except electric, patio, fence, hardscaping to fix shitty grading, drainage, and the only fun improvement has been a laundry room.
What they don't tell you about home ownership is cost of house is 3x the sticker price: interest over 30 years is roughly cost of home, then cost of home again over 30 years in repairs. If I'm ever paid for book I turned in in Jan, we pay off credit cards and immediately finance new house siding 🤷‍♀️

It fits the pattern unfortunately.

Truly hate every phone call I get from a vendor. Email me, or DM via LinkedIn, but a phone call...yeah I hangup with no warning, and I block you. Who the hell does business over the phone these days? I've said this before, but phones are reserved for friends and family.

Everything cycles. But culture doesn’t disappear, it just finds new ways to grow. Personally excited, hope it stays this way for a while, and let's the music get back to its storytelling roots. Taking a step back, might be the perfect way to move forward.

I get the logic, but no, we’re still not doing enough. Helping people live better and not wrecking what’s left of the planet aren’t opposites.

It’s not alarmism to give a damn about the future. Sad, but expected from those that can afford to think like this.

A friend actually sent me this yesterday. It warms the heart to know there are still principled orgs out there that stand for what’s right, not just take the $. They walked away from a grant because the terms would’ve forced them to sacrifice their values.

Integrity over funding, rare nowadays!
The Python Software Foundation was recommended for a $1.5M grant from the National Science Foundation. The terms of the award said PSF could not work on DEI, whether or not the grant funding was used for it.

PSF therefore declined the funding.

Science suffers, but commitment to core values remains
TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-...

"What's the first web page archived in the Wayback Machine?"

We get that question all the time. There's no singular first page. There is, however, a first collection, and it's a really important one ⬇️
🧵 In 1996, the #Smithsonian 📜 partnered with the fledgling #InternetArchive 🏛️ to create Web Archive 96. A venerable institution & a digital pioneer joining forces to preserve the 1996 U.S. presidential election online.
