Seriously Hubspot on what planet does it make sense to have me subscribed to so many newsletters that I have to scroll through 3 screens of options to see them all?

Every major comms platform has to contend w phishing, impersonation, & scams. Sadly.

RIR governance isn't an "exciting" or anyway "sexy" topic, but it's key to how the Internet works. Without IP addresses there are no cat videos, no websites, no email, no nothing. www.icann.org/en/public-c...

ChatGPT’s new Atlas browser doesn’t just see what you read — it remembers it.

@eff.org’s Lena Cohen showed me it even logged “memories” of her looking for *abortion care* and her doctor’s name. Out-surveils even Chrome.

My @washingtonpost.com column: wapo.st/49bOcVC
Column | ChatGPT just came out with its own web browser. Use it with caution.
OpenAI’s Atlas promises AI-powered convenience. The price? Letting ChatGPT track and store “memories” of what you do online.

Here's the problem
The Internet is held together with sticky tape. Its weaknesses are its strengths and it was designed to route its way around problems.
BUT
Over the past +/- 10 years oodles of "stuff" has become reliant on a handful of HUGE tech providers. Today shows this.

The decentralised global system has ended up being centralised ...
<If> the AWS outage that brought down a chunk of the global cloud is a "DNS issue", let's all remember that

DNS - the globally distributed domain name system - is remarkably simple and resilient. It was designed that way.

But concentrating DNS <resolution> in a couple of chokepoints is fragile.
