I digress she genuinely believes what she does is for the righteous sake of a greater good. She might make a populist shonen-esque speech for those she recruited to fight against CSMs, but she is all about might makes right and personal gain. Comradery is never in her worries.
Yoru embodies the way war is entrenched in the fabric of society: sexual manipulation of young men, sexualization of young women, women’s loss of autonomy, thoughtless violence. And within that, a stance of righteousness. At the heart, genuine conviction that she is doing the right thing.

Refusing either choice is also a choice. "Playing two sides" here will still lead to someone winning. Erasing/forgeting something won't change the fact it happened, and he has just claimed reponsability for his part on the Pochita/Denji/War accord and it's consequences. He's made a choice.
This all ties back into not thinking about the unpleasant things, refusing to see a choice you’ve made as a choice, thinking you can evade choice making at all by not considering the larger context of these decisions.

I'd argue Denji's path is not something he HAS to do but something he wants to. If he didn't abandon his guilt and learning from his mistakes, he wouldn't have been a active partner in leaving Asa with nothing but painful emotions right now. It's not up to Asa to stop being "The kill joy" .
I feel like this CSM chapter sets up Asa and Denji as opposites. Asa only exists for her guilt; Denji has had to abandon his to survive. Neither of these is sustainable.

It's self-defeating how on purpose she tormented Asa such there always was a flood of bad even suicidal thoughts, yet certain that her death is coming she complains about bad thoughts being annoying.
