Not sure if NL is the best place to implement this plan (also a lot of anti-higher-ed sentiment), but would be interesting to find out which 'renowned' Murican university is involved.

Stop calling it a dead zone.
A nearly Connecticut-sized, oxygen-depleted area of ocean is decidedly abnormal. But the last 4 decades of annual measurements and failed efforts to stop chemical pollution flowing off midwestern farms and into the Gulf made this week’s announcement entirely predictable.

I did my PhD research in Baie Missisqoui and was harassed more than once by US border gestapos. They were always complete assholes. (I’m a US citizen, not that it matters now or then).
Border Patrol says he was at the red mark, 65 feet south of the border, when he "made an abrupt starboard turn and struck the port bow of the Coast Guard small-boat," causing him to capsize.

He says that's ridiculous, he was in Canadian waters and was going to shore to talk when they hit him.

In this era, I think it's more useful to sort people by whether they participate in democratic discourse or disordered discourse, rather than left vs right.
Weird how centrists Joe Rogan, Glenn Greenwald and Bari Weiss all solely platform Republican voices, amplify far-right conspiracies and backed Trump in 2024.

Reporter: The president fired the Librarian of Congress. Why?

Leavitt: There were quite concerning things she had done at the Library of Congress in the pursuit of DEI and putting inappropriate books in the library for children.

Her position, @drewanderson.bsky.social writes, has been driven since the outset by the Free Alberta Strategy. It's a plan to back oil and gas — even if it means breaking up Canada.

Someday the masses will realize that all of the other nonsense was just to distract the sheep from the real goals, which are just about stealing money and making a few people richer. Remember the scene at the end of Die Hard, where Holly figures out that Hans wasn’t a terrorist, just a common thief.

Absolutely spineless. The GOP is doing all of those things anyway. Resign immediately.
If we enter a shutdown, Congressional Republicans would weaponize their majorities to cherry-pick which parts of government to reopen.
