Quote from Stephanie Akunvabey of Pace U cited at #AACUCLASS

The work of diversity, equity, & inclusion is like the baking soda in a cookie - you don’t taste it but it’s in every bite. If you take it out you ruin the cookie. But it’s being treated like the icing on a cupcake you can just wipe away.

Bryan Dewsberry at AACU CLASS:

"It's a rare time when words are being weaponized and are being struck from our websites and curricula. I'm struck by the speed of the retreat from those words. These are words presidents stood up and swore they believed in. Did they ever really mean those words?"

“Woke” was appropriated from Black culture. Now mainly white people apply it as a blanket term for anything raising consciousness of women, minorities, LGBTQIA+ ppl, indigenous ppls… anything challenging the authority and dominance of white men.

Let’s call it what it is: wokeness is a pejorative for critical thinking, for challenging the status quo. For some i’ss threatening to examine sources of harm to vulnerable groups & minorities because they don’t want to acknowledge the role they play in preserving of upholding these harms.

My thoughts on the Signal business: "nobody wearing an American military uniform can doubt that if they took details of an ongoing operation off a classified system and transmitted them on an unclassified commercial platform, they would be court martialled and probably go to prison."

Marco Rubio just made the argument, bold faced, not a mistake an intentional statement, that at any time the US can revoke your visa and then you are instantly here illegally and they can arrest you, deport you, torture you, all without any due process.

That means the United States is simply unsafe

We are now at the point in Ohio where students are afraid to write about the issues they care about because they are afraid another student in their class might report them for it.
