At long last the Depressing Backstory Flashback is over. That went on for at least twice as many pages as I planned, but it's an important part of the story so I didn't want to make it feel rushed, either. Hopefully it feels the right length to the reader.

maybe i'm just especially emotive this morning but this whole scene just broke my heart ...
this year i want to finish things.
i want to finish the thumbnails, and framing out of the rest of glimmer, and get the standard comic format up to the rest of the pace of the comic.
i want to finish my novel.
and i want to finish whisper because it's short, with basically no dialogue.

rereading the novel i'm working on + the comments from beta readers and i'm realzing that a) i think i am pantsing this book?? and b) if i am pantsing it, its bc the MC has an impulsive personality, so shes basically writing herself (and the novel) that way...........

omg glimmer is so stubborn its ridiculous.
flint too. maybe even more so. its one of their few shared traits (other than being cat-ified)
i think the difference is glimmer would pause/thnk abt giving up and then go "no!" while flint would just push thru (like carrying all the groceries at once..)

myeong and elves havent always gotten along, so learning elemental magic from the elves was seen as an oddity on both sides. glimmer is still trying to find her place in this world, so she doesnt really understand that this kind of prejudice exists there, or why.
Are there any prejudices other characters in your universe have (or had) about your OC? How does (or did) your OC deal with these?

Episode 5, pages 9-12, of Glimmer.
Page 11 and 12 have new dialogue. i thought the original dialogue in p 11 came across as too passive aggressive for flint's personality. i also added dialogue in the last panel of p12 cuz i'm gonna add back something i took out previously for the next page.
