What we need is an Atlantic think piece about Elon Musk as the Wizard of Oz that traces the American inventor-king-con-artist archetype back to Edison and PT Barnum.

Decentralization is a lot like end-to-end-encryption: users want to have it but they don’t want to experience any usability trade-offs that result from it.
fwiw, you can find feature requests discussed on Bluesky's github page:

Bookmarks: github.com/bluesky-soci...

Edit posts: github.com/bluesky-soci...

Remove followers: github.com/bluesky-soci...

tl;dr: why features aren't implemented often boils down to: "it's hard to do in a public protocol"

In SaaS, we build evergreen software with continuous deployment and Agile methodology. Except for a period of time that starts a week before US Thanksgiving and goes three weeks into January, where nothing happens at all.

I will not use a platform that is a state-run propaganda organ for the US government. I would feel that way even if the politics of the ownership and userbase were reversed. This is what the echo chamber discourse misses.

Very good read. I’m struck by how Blizzard’s problems didn’t all show up later with Activision but were always there, darkness mixed in with greatness.
Did you know that I wrote a book chronicling the wild story of Blizzard Entertainment and it comes out in… wait a minute it’s already out! And you can get it right now! Holy shit www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/jason...

The Game Boy Advance SP design is perfect, not just because it's very portable, but because its flip phone style means that if you're not doing well at Pokémon Fire Red or whatever, you can just angrily hang up on it.

BlueSky is so left wing, even its web apps are progressive.
If you're new to BlueSky, you should know about @deck.blue. It's basically Tweetdeck for Bluesky. It lives at www.deck.blue but if you're feeling fancy and use Windows, you can install it as a Chrome 'app' and then pin the button to your taskbar.
since I've gained over 1000 followers in the past hour, quick refresher on deck.blue:

it's a tweetdeck-like client that I started developing back in august 2023 on the same day the old tweetdeck got paywalled

i have nothing to do with twitter, the original tweetdeck team or even the bluesky team
