Perl stuff (ex-CPAN Testers, Labyrinth, Conference Surveys), ex-roadie (Ark, IQ, Prolapse, Cusp & others), love music, gigs, and playing board games. He/Him, Dad/Husband.
Just watched my BluRay edition of Gary Numan's 1000th show at The Electric Ballroom in 2023, and in the intro I spotted these two figures on the left; my mate JJ and me eating our chips, while waiting in the queue 😂

@garynumanofficial.bsky.social in Brum last night was outstanding, playing almost everything recorded around his Telekon era, celebrating 45 years of the album. The light show was a masterclass for any aspiring lighting designers. Obviously a difficult night, but the whole band gave everything 😎

Peter Hook & The Light at the HMV Empire, Coventry were on top form tonight. Shadowplay was the best I've ever seen them play it. The opening set of Get Ready was great, but the selection of JD & NO tracks for the second was perfect.

Great to catchup with @katiesdisorder.bsky.social too 😎

Looks like I'll be banned from BlueSky, or have my account emptied by a scam. Anyone else been asked to authenticate via KWS?

Winter Gardens
The Victoria, Birmingham
18th Sept 2025

I have just spent an evening enthralled by this band from Brighton on their first UK tour.

If you're a fan of shoegaze with some gorgeous melodies give them a listen. Lovely folk too. Check out their bandcamp wintergardensband.bandcamp.com

From first hearing Sabbath in the early 70s, seeing #Ozzy solo in the 80s, to reuniting with Sabbath in the 2010s, he has been a constant in my playlists. Watching the live stream recently, I felt it was a fitting farewell for his last gig. He'll be missed, but the music will continue to play on.

Recently came across a new band to me, in the shoegaze vein, and after listening to their 2 EPs, bought them both on bandcamp. Now will be seeing them at The Victoria, Brum in September.

The band...Winter Gardens. This is the song that had me hooked 😎

A wonderful night out in Bristol, at The Fleece, with Throwing Muses. A nice set, including one of my more recent favs, Dark Blue. Looking forward to seeing them again in Brum in August 😎

To support The Bone Tree, become the echo.
Let the sound slip through cracks, drift through smoke, root in silence.
Forget numbers. Forget noise.
This grows where light forgets to reach.

Getting extremely pissed off with Bluesky algorithms. That Discover feed is full of gay porn and politics. I thought that was Elmo's fetish, because it certainly isn't mine. Tried blocking as much as possible, but it's tedious. If this site becomes X 2.0, then it's dead.

Nearly 2½hrs of prog magic. A couple of oldies, some rarities and best of all 2 new tracks, that sounded fantastic. Hats, Wings and Troika too for fine festive fun!

Particularly admirable were the first support band this evening, out of Athens Georgia, who came to Manchester and did a cover of Transmission by Joy Division. Ballsy indeed. Did a cracking job of it: @visionvideoband.bsky.social
