Why are observant Jews under 40 splintering away from Jewish institutions? Because we have moral clarity. We know our history. We don't want anything to do with ethnonationalism, and we certainly won't support a Jewish state in committing genocide. Free Palestine.
NEW: Traditional-egalitarian prayer groups are popping up across the country, where members can vary from anti-Zionist to Zionist.

These minyans, built on lay leadership, low overhead and liberal ideals, are discovering that the very qualities that fueled their rise are also driving them apart.
A new kaffiyeh policy is designed to help divided Jews pray together. Is this the Jewish future?
The traditional-egalitarian independent minyan movement is thriving in Brooklyn. But the war in Israel has put their values to the test.

Cannot believe that in the year of our world 5875 we're having to make a feminist defense of **egalitarianism** but here we are.

Honestly the more interesting question to me is whether as feminists we can defend halakha. I tackle that in my response too

This week's parsha is כי־תצי: it's a long list of laws including many related to gender, and the vehicle for @t4torah.bsky.social's guest dvar and rebuttal "A Feminist Defense of Halakhic Egalitarianism"

The parsha this week is שטים ("Judges").

It's Elul. We are urged to reflect on our behavior, apologize for wrongdoing, and rededicate ourselves toward tshuva: "return", repentance, justice, repair, renewal.

It's time to get our shit together before being sealed in הספֿר החיים (the Book of Life)

Every week I publish a frum trans anarchist (antizionist) Torah commentary on the parsha

This week is Kadoshim, which includes the infamous lines used to justify homophobia ("Do not lie with a man as with a woman")

A dvar for when the world burns: parsha פּקודי

This is the final parsha in the book of Shemoys (Exodus). The bulk of the text is dedicated to the details of erecting the Mishkon (Tabernacle, or meeting tent) and all the craft work required to fulfill the commandments to build and furnish it.

This is a proposed ban on trans healthcare, and furthermore a blatant attack on Medicaid under the guise of "market affordability".

Parsha Vyakheyl:

Moishe Rebeynu relays Hashem's instructions on the importance of keeping Shabos and how to build the Mishkan. Only the most precious materials are permitted—gold, silver, copper, dolphin skins, oil, spices, and gemstones—and the most skilled artisans are to work on its construction

Words are the most precious thing in Jewish tradition.

We are a people in golus (exile, diaspora) and our holiest objects are designed to be abandoned in a disaster. The only thing we take with us is the ark holding the Torah within: our words, our history, our memory.
