Out of curiosity, what's the "in" thing for writing free e-novels these days? It used to be Wattpad, but I've not heard anyone talk about that in a long time. Archive of Our Own? Pixiv??

A PayPal call center supervisor said they actually completely agree with me. They said that if enough people call PayPal they would be forced to take notice. I explained the Patreon/Itch/Steam situation and they said they're a creative themselves & that they hope the situation improves.

"But this is just about porn games!"

Yes, and weird religious fascists regularly mischaracterize queer people and queer art as inherently pornographic, they shouldn't be given an inch because there's no line for them, no cut-off point, they'll never be satisfied. Do you think they'll stop at porn?
visa and mastercard deciding what games are allowed to be sold is an apocalyptic level threat to the games industry. phone calls are the highest impact way to help.

this is an all hands on deck situation. the enemy got results with 1000 phone calls.

we can beat them

Call call call. Visa is literally begging us to stop calling and send emails. Calls cost them way more money and they can't use key words to filter them out
Welcome to the weekend! You made it sailor. Which censorious payment processor would you like to call first? Thanks to my moot @dieselbrain.bsky.social for the Stripe number, can confirm it works

I share this, not because it would impact my games directly, but because I have a deep distaste for telling people what art they can and cannot make. If you use VISA or Mastercard, call and complain about their changes brought on by Collective Shout.

LMAO I called Visa’s customer support service - the guy on the other line was like “are you ALSO calling about the video game payment processing? Please send us emails instead.”

Keep up the calls, folks, we’re definitely gumming up their works
I know we're upset about itch, but they're not the only ones

Payment processors harassed companies bc of a 1,000 email hate campaign

But we can EASILY top 1,000!

I prewrote an email + got the contact info - you just have to send!

This is what happens when people with zero interest in language are involved with localisation. I don't pretend my translations are localisation because I don't speak the languages I translate my games to, but I DO like languages so I make an effort to keep it coherent at least.

Noting I haven't been writing a lot recently, I'll say that this absolutely applies for all kinds of creatives. The small bits of feedback about my music people drop keep me inspired to compose more.

If you listen to my stuff, please let me know if you liked it! I promise I don't bite!
Here's your semi regular reminder that your favorite authors (me) are fueled almost entirely off comments left about the things they (me) write so you should go out of your way to tell them (me) what you liked (about my writing)

Not to beg but if you liked a thing I wrote... 👀

Seriously though, speaking as a writer telling a creative you like their work can make their whole week. A lot of cool projects die because the people working on them feel like no one cares.

There's a lot of ideas I have that require plugins I can't find, and since I can't code, I do not know how to make.
So instead, I'm just going to throw the ideas out there and anyone who likes the idea can steal it!

Hexed 2.5F will be live in a few, short minutes! Featuring Linux support! (If it were near Halloween, I'd joke about there being nothing spookier than technical issues, but alas.)

Detailed report of the changes in the INFO folder.

I just spent the whole day trying to figure out how to port games to Linux...I know RPG Maker has a reputation for being bad at this but good lord!

Update game, export, move to Linux, make new project, Frankenstein them together.
It now boots, and won't crash if you save!
AAAA!

Non-dev question (Doesn't need to be related to anything I'd make): what kind of game has everyone been playing a lot of lately?

For example, I've recently been on a Pokémon kick!
Going for a living dex in gen 4.

Hi! Not #The1MonthGame update, just wanted to let you know that I created a new game devs starter pack for awesome indies to follow.

Includes indie devs with +1K followers, so the 150 limit isn't filled right away. Let me know to be added.

Feel free to repost & suggest devs! 🎮

Can we answer with games we've made or worked on/are working on?
Because living in a relaxed town with a monarchy that cares for its citizens sounds like a nice change of pace.

Figured it was about time to give Hexed an update that isn't simply translation work. (But fear not, I am forever tapping out new languages!)
The next version will have expressive faces, improved lighting and slightly touched up maps.

[Not progress report related] This reminds me I had an idea for a game where a singular character would have a voice. Of course, the plan was for me to voice it which would probably be terrible since I am not a voice actor. (You would be able to disable, don't worry.) 1/3
