In my latest piece for @ecfr.eu, I argue that European countries need to realise that migration is not the root cause behind the backsliding of democratic values, it is rather amplifying existing problems which their governments need to address.

While European countries are implementing towards more restrictive politics on migration, Spain is setting an example doing the completely opposite.
The message should be clear: Migration should be seen as an opportunity rather than as a problem.
