Actually read all day yesterday and finished this. I like the slow pacing a lot. Slow burn just makes more sense to me. You not only get a better look at the individual personalities and their circumstances but you can also see them getting to know each other and their budding interest.
Started Saye last night and so far, I like it. The setting is cool and I love that Jiang Cheng is so pissy. We should have more characters with spikes and prickles all over as MCs.

I kind of loved “Monstrilio” and took a lot of notes, mostly about the story rather than the book. It’s about grief, of course, but I found a big part of what I liked was that it showed the difficulty (or impossibility) of not being yourself. I liked M’s POV the most, it was exactly what I expected.

Lately, I’ve been feeling like re-reading older manga, especially the ones I was obsessed with when I was younger. I have a whole list of them, but I’m starting with “D.N.Angel” because it’s one of the shorter series I think. I mean 20 volumes, but still shorter than like 37 (“Hana Yori Dango”).

Re-read “Last Quarter” and for some reason it really hit today and I’ve been cutting onions toward the end there. Ai Yazawa is one of the greats for a reason. Art is amazing, characters are messy, story is great.

“Champignon Witch” was super adorable! It absolutely delivers on cozy. Who hasn’t dreamt of living in a mushroom house in the forest, surrounded by little woodland creatures? And I loved the little details about Luna and how her surroundings (house, clothes, etc) change with to her moods!

Because of the cover, I kind of thought (hoped?) this series would be a bit unhinged, but it wasn’t at all. I mean, it’s okay overall, but one of the main characters, Kikumaru, was pretty boring, this sweet, innocent stereotype, and I guess the story wasn’t anything exciting, either :\

This was a total cover buy. I mean, look at it, it looks so cool. It’s not one single story but more a collection. I liked the vibe of it, had a kind of nostalgic feeling to it. In the first story, the characters bond over music and radio and of course I loved that.

Read the first two volumes of “Kamisama Kiss” and I was kind of struggling at the beginning, but as I kept reading, it became more and more fun. I think I want to keep reading for a while longer, see how I get on. But now that I’m out of the intro phase, I might end up really enjoying it.

This series is honestly just so good. Both characters have individual struggles and they actually grow as people. And there is also no overblown drama, instead, they are both very honest about their feelings and what they want. I really, really like it.

I really do like “Pet Shop of Horrors”. Even though, the structure of the episodes is basically the same each time, the stories themselves are never boring/repetitive. I just don’t get tired of it. Also, I like the addition of Chris. He adds a bit of fresh air and opens new segues into the stories.

Just finished “Wayward” and found the ending not really satisfying. Don’t know if they were angling for a second season, but I would have hoped for a bit more of a conclusion at the end. Loved Toni Collette though.

The release date for the “Lord of Mysteries” novels I preordered got pushed back a month, which sucks, because I really want to read them, but at least now have time to read the four books left on my TBR. Probably going to start “Monstrilio” tonight, which is the last of my Halloween/horror books.

Watched “The Crystal Cuckoo” today and while it was nothing new exactly, it was definitely a good show to binge for a few hours. Had an unnecessary and underdeveloped love story but apart from that everything else was good to watch and I wasn’t bored at all during the six episodes.

For such a short book, 208 pages, there were a lot of surprises and turns in “Audition”. There was also a lot of room for interpretation, which made me really think about and question what I was reading and how it connected. The ending is wide open, but I felt satisfied anyway.

Having an Hana to Yume kind of day. “Otaku Vampire’s Love Bite” volume 5 was my favorite. I liked the chapters with the stamp rally and the voice actor (forgot his name…).

May or may not have let things pile up again…

Finished reading “The Staircase in the Woods” and I had a lot of fun reading it, though it was not perfect. I liked the concept and the atmosphere and I could imagine the whole setting in my head very well. The whole idea was cool, too. Might make a good movie.

Finally finished “The King’s Affection”. I think it was okay and had its moments, but I don’t think it lends itself to binge watching very well. If I would have watched it weekly, I would have liked it more, though I did watch it spread out over three month because it did drag a bit...

Watched “Suzume” and enjoyed it, except the love story put a dent in it because age, but also it felt like a complete afterthought? I think it would have been better if the motivation would have been friendship. At least I would have liked that better. Music was good though.

Read volumes 1-3 of “My Oh My, Atami-kun” and really liked them. I think if someone likes Wayama Yama and especially “Captivated, By You”, they would like this, too. It has this kind of low key dry humor that I appreciate way more than obviously funny scenes. Also, I like all the characters a lot.

Read vol 1 of “Dear Door” and so far I guess it’s okay? It feels like it’s been a while since I read something with demons and hell and all that. There is some stuff I’m not sure about, but I guess I will go ahead and read vol 2 when it comes out and then see if I’ll continue.

Vol 2 of “I Wanna Be Your Girl” had a bunch of different perspective. There is a new character and we get the backstory of one we already know. I’m coming around on Hime now, too, because she is just trying to find herself and even though people around her are off worse, her feelings are valid, too.

Also read “Jujutsu Kaisen” 28 and “The Elusive Samurai” 17 today. Kind of feel like reading something with more action right now, but first I’ll read everything I still have, because I might change my mind again in ten minutes lol
