“Vibe coding” is a terrible name for it.

I don’t love “prompt engineering” either.

Any other suggestions?

Interesting how much a name change can affect our feelings about something we’re familiar with.

They renamed one of my favourite Facebook groups from “Dull Men’s Club” to “Bananas for Scale” (the other group apparently has a trademark “Dull Men’s Club®”).

People feel lost and upset.

I think my youngest (12) just realized how great reading fiction can be.

Hope he reads another book, but this time on his own and not because the school assigned it.

Still playing catchup. Still more than 2 years behind.

Thanks @seanmcarroll.bsky.social for creating the best podcast ever!

Always interesting, always accessible to interested laypeople, and always sparking the most creative thoughts I’ve ever had.

Michael Tomasello has an interesting take on morality.

That it emerged from a social dynamic that required interconnection and cooperation for survival.

Ads on streaming platforms like #YouTube and #Prime seem to have gotten louder and longer.

The volume decision might have been a bad move because instead of turning it down it’s easier to mute.

Yes Netflix acquired Warner Media

But 5ish years ago, Warner Media acquired an obscure (to the public) but great video streaming engine “You.i TV” that was heavily used by third parties for streaming video content.

This streaming engine was used by many major intl companies (but not Netflix)

Asteroid loaded with amino acids offers new clues about the origin of life on Earth
One of the most elegant theories about the origins of life on our planet is that it was kick-started by a delivery from outer space. This idea suggests that prebiotic molecules—the building blocks of ...

I wouldn’t say “idiots”, based on this evidence, but more that it’s a land of people who react before researching.

You have two options:

1) guaranteed $50
2) you get to flip a coin:
- heads you get $100
- tails you get $0

Do you pick (1) or (2)?

I think reading helps society by exposing readers to different cultures and environments from a first person perspective that they would not have otherwise experienced.

This increases their empathy and understanding of others not like them and expands their bubble of those they care for.

Yet another unique way to stimulate cellular immunity against cancer.

“Using the gut immune system to induce cellular immunity is a unique approach,” Shirakawa notes. “And it should be very easy to extend it to other antigen proteins and also infectious diseases.”

Inducing immunity against cancer via the gut
Could a microbe that can smuggle antigens into the immune system of the gut provide a simple way to treat cancers?

What if renters automatically built up equity toward the value of the *internal* space of the property?

Then when they move out the owner of the house had to buy back that portion of the house?

In 2020, MIT was able to produce deepfake audio from just 15 seconds of someone’s voice.

Spam phone calls can be made to look like they come from any telephone number.

Might be a good time to start answering the phone with a funny voice.
