ワ(wa) and フ(Fu) trip me up and so does ヤ(ya) and セ(se) but I just started learning katakana do I guess that's expected. I read wonderland showtime as funderland showtime and was so confused why they didn't use wa. They did. I read it wrong 😭

It feels like I've had more progress learning Japanese basics in less than 2 weeks than I had learning Afrikaans over 6 years 😔 (probably watching all that anime helped but still)

Rn I low-key get happy seeing katakana cause then I'm sure no kanji is appearing for that word at least and I have a decent chance of piecing together the word. Also, utapri uses more loan words for the UI that I thought

It's nothing more than like kindergarten level but I'm getting tiktok videos using only hiragana (kanji still trips me up and I'm waiting a bit to get to katakana) AND I CAN READ THEM THIS IS SO COOL! Got a tiktok where someone asked if everyone knew Japanese and I could read the simpler responses!

Currently learning hiragana and the app I'm using has user submitted imagery for each one which is so helpful. Like ko looks like hot coffee, o looks like a hand drawing o in the sand etc. Te looks lik a t, ne looks like a n etc etc

I didn't realize until recently that the original Game Boy came out in 1989 and wasn't succeeded by the Game Boy Color until goddamn 1998. That's roughly nine years of black and white portable gaming being the de facto standard!

Late update, turns out I do have four wisdom teeth, only one of them peaked out though. Bottom two are almost horizontal against my other teeth, top two are smaller and like in the path of other teeth? Dentist said as long as they don't hurt it's all good and no removal needed so yay!
So like... How angry would the dentist be when I tell him about the wisdom tooth I have growing in that I've been ignoring until I realised it would end up growing into my other tooth?
