In journalism school the iconic prof “Shoe” told us he’d flip through the newspaper until something made him say “what the hell????” Then he’d write his column. I say that like 12 times a minute now.
“Most Americans still do want their country to stand for something other than greed, and most don’t want their expensive military to fight on behalf of Trump’s oil-industry donors.”

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

Interesting thread. Dictators, distraction, plunder, oil. Was this mostly theater, like nearly everything the regime does?
Sources in the Venezuela opposition tell Sky News that tonight’s operation to “capture” Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, was part of a “negotiated exit” between Maduro and the United States.

If Xi Jinping invaded Taiwan right now, and toppled the president there, on what grounds would the United States object? Or have any credibility to say anything?

Nothing about this is okay.

The President of the United States is on Fox News right now gabbing about the U.S. attack on Venezuela before addressing the American people.

So the new order of information is: Truth Social → Fox News → the public → Congress, maybe?

Final broadcast of ABC News Tonight for 2025. I hope every rep and senator saw it.

Millions are being forced to cancel health insurance because it’s unaffordable. That pressure doesn’t stop with them; it spreads. When people drop coverage, everyone’s rates go up.

Call your Rep and Senators.

⬇️⬇️ Invaluable context here for the travesty at CBS.
As it happens, I have experience with high-level government demands to stop an explosive, accurate story from running, and I also have experience with 60 Minutes spiking a story I was involved in, so I have thoughts about the travesty at CBS. If you want some journalism anecdotes, here are a lot:

New in PN: How Dems can win the Senate in 2026

"It’s not likely … but we’re saying there’s a chance. It requires Dems holding every seat they currently have, flipping ones in North Carolina and Maine, and also flipping two out of Ohio, Iowa, Alaska, Texas, Florida, and Nebraska."

One of the unacknowledged advantages of this awful era is that it's revealing for all to see the putrid connections between great wealth and great power.

The intentions of the oligarchs are fully exposed and more blatant than ever.

But remember: We outnumber the oligarchs.
