I want a solution to this government shutdown as soon as possible, but the new bill in the Senate just isn’t good public policy and doesn’t help the Americans we’ve been fighting for. This is a bad deal.

The Senate’s bill is a bad deal for the American people. Read my full statement below.

Today we celebrate 250 years of the United States Marine Corps — a proud legacy of service and commitment to defending our nation. The Marines truly embody the best of America’s fighting spirit. Semper Fi.

Appreciated the opportunity to meet with Solano County Supervisor Wanda Williams and new Vacaville City Manager Savita Chaudhary to talk about the issues that matter most to our community — from affordable housing and development to supporting veterans and local families.

It’s Nurse Practitioner Week! I’m deeply grateful to all the Nurse Practitioners who keep our communities healthy and strong. My wife, Jan, is a Nurse Practitioner—and I see firsthand the compassion and dedication she brings to her patients every day.

Had a great visit with students at Vacaville High School today! Their curiosity and thoughtful questions about government give me so much hope for the future of our country.

A Secretary of Health and Human Services who rejects mainstream science is a risk to public health. If RFK Jr. wants to make America healthy again, he needs to resign.

It’s unacceptable that the Supreme Court is even considering revisiting marriage equality. The right to marry the person you love is fundamental, and Americans are moving forward, not backward.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta has led the charge against the Trump administration’s blatant illegal actions. And the work he does benefits ALL Americans – not just Democrats or Republicans.

When local credit unions succeed, our communities succeed. Redwood Credit Union’s 75 years of service show what “people helping people” really means — from supporting local nonprofits to helping families afford their first home.

Speaker Johnson is guilty of public policy malpractice. You need to work for ALL American people, not against them. Bring your Republicans back to Washington and work with Democrats to end this shutdown. Full stop.

Make no mistake, nobody in America should be denied access to healthcare or be forced into bankruptcy because of their medical bills. We’re the richest country in the world and we feed the rest of the world – no child should go to school or to bed hungry.

There are countless things we could be doing during this shutdown – we can still vote, still hold hearings, and still pass legislation during a shutdown. If for no other reason, reconvene the House so that we can join Marjorie Taylor Greene in reading the Epstein files on the floor!

Jed was a dear friend whose presence filled every room. He was larger than life in stature and spirit. His vision and hard work helped put Lake County’s vineyards on the map. I’m grateful to have known him and to honor his memory.

Nancy Pelosi is the most successful speaker in our nation's history. I’ll always be proud to have served alongside her. Thank you, Madam Speaker.

It’s day 37 of the government shutdown and Republicans are still nowhere to be found. Democrats are here, ready to end this crisis, reopen the government, protect your health care, ensure federal employees are paid, and put food back on the table. Speaker Johnson needs to end Republicans’ vacation.

Today we honor the lives lost in the tragic shooting at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs eight years ago—the deadliest mass shooting in Texas history and at any American place of worship. We will never forget them as we continue working toward a future free from gun violence.

President Trump is interfering in the California election on Prop 50 by trying to nullify mail-in ballots despite him actively working with states to redistrict and cut out Democratic votes from Republican-led states. This president only cares about representation if it benefits Republicans.
Trump: California mail-in ballot policy under ‘legal and criminal’ review
The president argued the state’s redistricting push is a "giant scam" shutting out Republicans.

This president is blatantly breaking the law, AGAIN! After a judge ruled that the administration must pay out SNAP benefits from the contingency funds, they are yanking the promise they made YESTERDAY to pay out benefits. Time and time again, this president chooses to make AMERICANS SUFFER.
POLITICO Pro: Americans will still get partial SNAP benefits despite Trump post, White House says
The clarification comes after the president threatened on Truth Social to withhold federal food aid funding until Democrats agree to reopen the government.

Clean energy tax credits created hundreds of billions of dollars of investment in renewable energy in the United States. That’s why Democrats are working to bring those tax credits back after the Republicans passed their Big, Ugly Law.
