As a veteran, I know the hardships of war. On Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we honor the lives lost in the attack on Pearl Harbor and reflect how our nation came together to help end World War II and build a more peaceful future.

Billion-dollar corporations shouldn’t get tax loopholes to dodge paying their fair share. That’s why I joined @beyer.house.gov and @warren.senate.gov in urging the Treasury Department not to weaken corporate tax rules.

Thank you to Larry Kamer for the invitation to speak with members of our community who joined his class. It was great to share an update on my work and meet so many neighbors who care deeply about our country.

Hepatitis B vaccines for infants have been standard practice for over 30 years and they’ve reduced the rates of liver diseases caused by Hep B by 99 percent. Protecting children from health risks should be common sense and it’s been proven that these vaccines work.
CDC advisers vote to overturn decades-long policy on hepatitis B vaccine for infants
In a controversial move, the vaccine advisory group reversed a recommendations for universal immunizing of newborns intended to protect them from a virus that attacks the liver.

Secretary Hegseth is threatening to cut support for the Scouts. That’s wrong. Scouting teaches discipline, responsibility, and real-life skills. Using a youth development program as a political wedge is disgraceful.

Americans who continue to see rising costs everywhere in their lives can’t get ahead, and the American Dream is deferred. If we’re serious about building a better America for current and future generations, we can’t allow health insurance costs to skyrocket.

Congratulations to Chief Fabio Rodriguez on becoming Napa’s new Chief of Police. With decades of experience and a strong record of community engagement, he’s the right leader for this moment.

Congressional Republicans have an opportunity to work with Democrats to lower costs for Americans. I urge Speaker Johnson to shift his focus away from billionaire donors and deliver for everyday Americans who are paying too damn much every time they turn around.

The best way to improve America’s global competitiveness is to stop kneecapping our own workers and businesses with Trump’s tariffs.

This president's tariffs on steel, lumber, and other building materials act like a housing tax, driving up construction costs and making our affordable housing shortage even worse. If we want to build more housing to address that shortage, tariffs are only making the problem worse.

Tariffs don’t just raise the price of imports—they drive up the cost of American goods too. When the price of a Mexican avocado goes up, the California avocado does too. Families are already struggling with high grocery bills, and these tariffs are a massive consumer tax.
December 3, 2025 at 11:00 PM
The Trump tariffs have been an outright failure nationwide. Tariffs amount to a $1,700 tax on each and every household in the United States. They have harmed U.S. business competitiveness and have cost the United States manufacturing jobs.

Thanks to Fred Johnson, former Air Force One chef for President Obama and chief architect of the Capitol gingerbread replica, for letting me help with some of the finishing touches for the gingerbread Capitol.

On Monday, this administration is blowing boats out of the ocean who they suspect are trafficking narcotics. On Tuesday, the president is pardoning the former Honduran president – a proven and convicted drug trafficker who helped cartels smuggle over 400 tons of cocaine into our county.

Proud to have delivered the funding for the NVTA to continue to improve the Napa Valley's public transportation infrastructure and reduce our emissions. These new buses are a win-win for residents and our planet.

If reports are true that someone in our military, be it the Secretary of Defense or an unnamed admiral, gave an order to kill unarmed survivors of a military attack, they need to be held accountable. The House and Senate Armed Services Committees have to investigate this immediately.

It’s been 32 years since President Clinton signed the Brady Bill, requiring background checks for all purchases from federally licensed firearm dealers. This law has kept millions of guns out of dangerous hands.

Saddened to hear the news that one of the National Guard members shot this week has passed. This was a senseless murder and this violence has no place in our country. My prayers go to her loved ones as they grieve. www.axios.com/2025/11/28/t...
