Ultimate jump scare: I was more than halfway thru reading “The Shining” for the first time when my ebook library loan expired and I wasn’t allowed to renew!

The man can literally make us question EVERYTHING about our way of life. Escalators are designed to become stairs and they still work! How dare they not just eat the legs of whatever idiot doesn't step on them correctly.
