I hope to destroy the stigma attached to #MentalHealth, fight to help those struggling with #Depression, and do all I can to end #Suicide.
This holiday season, there will be empty seats at the table where a loved one once sat before suicide took their life. There will also be loved ones in seats who are in a life-or-death battle with suicide. If they lose the fight, there will be more empty seats.

Depression isn’t a game, shouldn’t be taken lightly, and isn’t going to magically disappear by telling those struggling to get over it. It can be soul-crushing, heartbreaking, and life-stealing. It can destroy lives and even end them.

Would you tell someone with a broken leg to walk it off? Well, it’s just as absurd when you tell someone struggling with depression/suicidal ideation to think more positively.

Trying to ignore the problem with the hopes of it going away will work when dealing with an individual who is suicidal due to mental illness. However, this method will also introduce new, different, and more severe problems as a result. It’s an issue that needs to be handled head-on from the start.

When depression is renting your upstairs apartment, silence isn’t golden. It’s terrifying!

One of the most dangerous places to be when things aren’t good is in your own mind. It can be cold, dark, and stormy. There’s potential for abuse, stalking, and, unfortunately, even murder. It knows all your weaknesses and fears, and it won’t hesitate to use them against you.

How many more lives do we have to lose to suicide due to mental illness, and how many more people have to struggle to survive every day while suffering mentally because society, medical professionals, and the authorities make it almost impossible to receive the help they so desperately need?

Having a strong relationship with God is a great support system when you’re struggling with depression. When you feel that you have no one, you will always have Him. The relationship alone won’t solve all your problems. It will require effort on your behalf, but it’s absolutely worth the investment.

You’d be missed if you weren’t here. You’re not a burden to anyone. They do love you.

We need to pay attention and act accordingly to the red flags we witness when someone is dealing with depression, and suicide as a result, before they’re waving a white flag and having it draped over their casket if it’s too late.

Whenever the rebuttal to discussing a person being suicidal due to mental illness is, who hasn’t been, that’s indicative that they, most likely, haven’t. A fleeting moment of death based on your current circumstances isn’t the same thing as being suicidal due to mental illness.

No one struggling mentally who is seeking professional help should receive a prescription for suicide due to the incompetence and lack of compassion from said professionals.

Depression can act like a toxin being pumped through the body by way of the heart, and it’s believed that to stop the pain is to prevent the heart from beating. Some people, unfortunately, think suicide is the medication they need to feel better, and that is heartbreaking.
