This quote is getting demolished because this isn’t that hard. George Miller has known this for decades! So has James Bond! Just write a good story and trust that your audience doesn’t need continuity-rot level hand-holding.

I want the Jays to get an insurance run here, but Shohei as potentially the last out in a one run Game 7 would be absolute theater

Hark! I have seen the new Happy Gilmore 2 / Subway billboards on Sunset Boulevard. Unfortunately, they haven’t made me more excited to ingest either product.

Still haven't seen Final Reckoning - friends bailed last weekend and #lifehappens has gotten in the way - but thoroughly enjoyed this piece from @jadiestills.bsky.social on Tom Cruise, technology, what is real, and what is absent. Especially this paragraph.

Guy Ritchie’s career should be studied by our brightest minds in top-secret laboratories because it absolutely baffles me.
“It is the “Citizen Kane” of second-screen entertainment. Every frame rewards inattention.” I reviewed Fountain of Youth. With my flamethrower. Dear lord, what a lump of nothing. www.rogerebert.com/reviews/foun...

If I had a nickel for every time an emo revival band referenced cutting their fingers off on the first song of an album I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.

Working theory: you can tell the quality of a Statham vehicle by looking at his name. The winning formula is roughly: First Name (1-2 syllables, max) Last Name (Noun, must be short), or something mononymous.

Adam Clay? Never in doubt. Levon Cade? Tried too hard. Cole Reed? Not a lot of juice!

Michael Mann's 1999 film The Insider is rentable to stream for $3.99 in various venues. This might be the night for it. If you've never seen it, run, don't walk. (To your couch.)

I went long on Eephus, because it nails both the ephemerality of playing sports as an adult and the weirdness of male friendships.

A ★★★★½ review of Eephus (2024)
Eephus is a hangout movie where the space for the hangout is just as important, if not more so, than the people we are hanging out with. It is a baseball movie where the main character is the field, n...

Man this Val Kilmer news sucks. This will be my forever image of him: movie star smile, sunglasses on, knowing you are but a few feet from getting away with it.

It might be the perfect metaphor for life. RIP Val.

The phrase “my jaw was on the floor” is overused, but I honestly I remember my mouth hanging open agog when the Peacemaker rolled up. My roommate, who saw the film earlier that morning and was seeing it again, just had to laugh. A true holy shit moment.
