I'm really loving how you can convey complex concepts with ThreeJS in an interactive way.

Here's another visualization I created for the motion collection device I developed. The first stage shows the data from an uncalibrated magnetometer. The second shows the data after it's calibrated.

I wanted to demonstrate how this medical device I worked on can collect motion data, so I added a live visualization of the acceleration and rotation. This all works in the browser with the 3D model!

I've been working on adding some 3D components to my portfolio, and it's been shaping up really well. Here's a preview!

Anyone can launch a hardware side‑hustle with just a laptop and internet.

Need an editor that just works? VS Code is free.
Need 3D + PCB CAD? Fusion 360 (personal) is free.
Want to spin a circuit board? KiCad is free.

A few years ago, I reflected on the most impactful lessons I've learned in my career.

From this, I found a clearer understanding of career growth and five profound mistakes everyone (intern to staff engineer) should avoid.

Here are my notes:
Five Early Career Mistakes I Had to Learn the Hard Way

In one of the infinite dimensions out there, I'm starting as the CEO of Microsoft on Monday.

My first priority? Stopping Windows from requiring you to restart so damn often.

I've had fantastic success with the Bambu Lab H2D. There hasn't been a single failed print, including those with support enabled.

The dual-AMS mount worked out really well. I printed it with PETG-CF (carbon fiber) and it feels solid. I would highly recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to stack their AMS systems (or have them off to the side).

Printing some desiccant containers for the AMS 2 Pro. Second AMS arrives today!

Printing with carbon fiber (PETG-CF) for the first time. Cross your fingers!

After using a tiling manager for macOS (Aerospace) for a month, I'm switching back.

Unfortunately, Apple makes building a true tiling manager really difficult. It had to do things like hide windows in the bottom left, but you could always see them. Also, rearranging windows was super jittery.

"There are Microsoft apps installed, and they're going to make themselves known instead of blending into the OS!"

What resources do you use for learning Fusion 360? I need to brush up soon.

After working with the Bambu Labs H2D for a while, I decided to grab a second AMS 2 Pro.

Now to find the right way to mount them. Maybe this?

If I'm in a coma and someone suggests an experimental procedure, just say no. I am NOT getting Black Mirrored.

After four incredible years, I'm wrapping up my time at Qr8 Health. I'm grateful for the journey and the brilliant people I worked with.

I'm now exploring what's next—if you're building something meaningful and think I can help, let's talk.

I strongly considered using Rust or Swift to write firmware for my latest embedded project, but there's always that risk of hitting unexpected compatibility issues mid-project. Went with trusty C this time—but I'm still rooting for Rust!

What's your preferred microcontroller for low-power applications?

I used a nRF52 for a project and I can't imagine anything else being better. It has BLE support and you can add WiFi with a companion IC.

Phenomenal developer experience & support. VS Code for the IDE. Excellent debugging tools.

Literally every day my Mail app will say I have unread mail when I don't. Usually this happens when I archive the message on my phone.

Opening the app, tapping "Get new messages", filtering/unfiltering, nothing fixes it besides quitting and reopening.

Happens on iPhone too!

If I could pick any project to work on, it would be a combination of custom hardware, firmware, software (maybe a companion app), and 3D printing. Give me that and I'll work so hard I forget to eat.

The different AI tools (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) are surprisingly good at comparing different microcontrollers for new hardware projects. I'm choosing between the nRF52840 and the nRF5340 for a project and it cut down on the research time considerably.

Gemini's "Deep Research" is excellent, too!

When someone like Christopher Lawley - famous for using an iPad as his primary computer on YouTube - says he's switching to the Mac, Apple should listen!

Thinking of rewriting my blog (currently NextJS) to use a static site generator like zola (written in Rust). But, I rewrite it almost as often as I write posts for it, so maybe not 🤦
