Nerdy but probably not as nerdy as you. Dad to a cute kid. Husband to a cute wife. Good at a lot of things. Toad enthusiast who runs @toadfacts.
One of my favorite things about this account is how it often says things without actually saying anything.

And now we have bread! The second raise took a little more time. The loaves look lovely. I can’t wait to try a slice.

My stepdad noticed my bottle of Lagavulin was low and just, like, brought me a new bottle. Merry Christmas!

It’s January 14th and I’m still wrapping Christmas presents.

@toadfacts.bsky.social has been hopping lately (pun intended), around a hundred new followers a week now. Passed its Twitter follower count a while ago, prior to me deleting that account anyway. It even got its first follow farmer! Still enjoying it, but I gotta figure out how to deal with that.

A benefit of only owning Hyundai vehicles for the past twenty-odd years is that I knew exactly where to reach under the hood to manually put it in gear, I knew exactly what tools I needed to get to the shift linkage, and I knew what part probably failed. Ended up getting two replacements for free.
Another break, another thing breaks!

This same bushing failed on @chieflotsahair.bsky.social's car on the first day she returned to in-school instruction back in 2021. We found it failed again today, fortunately the day before returning from winter break.

I captured the Horsehead Nebula tonight and reframed a bit so I would also get a good shot of the Flame Nebula there on the left. These are just a couple of the interesting objects in the Orion constellation.

For reference, the big green star on the center left is the leftmost star in Orion’s Belt.

I haven’t lost Whamageddon yet but I did just get hit with a drive by All I Want for Christmas is You in the car rider line while picking up the kid. It’s already that time of year, I see.

Family member is complaining about the shutdown “screwing up their food stamps”. Is the proper response what they told you when you said you weren’t happy about Trump winning 2024, “Guess you can’t have everything!”, or should I offer them some money that I don’t really have this month?

I think it's kind of neat that, if you're lucky enough to find one in their catalog, you can officially name a toad after someone just by making a totally reasonable donation to a non-profit organization.

Seems like that's something you could crowdfund pretty easily *stares at camera*

I love Spadefoots because they always look like they've seen something shocking. Every time I see one, I think of this photo.

Okay, I went back out tonight with a clearer sky and the knowledge that I gained last night and took what I think is a much better picture of Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon).

I'm quite happy with this one.

I finally had the opportunity to take a few minutes at dusk and run down the road to a nearby field with an unobstructed western view to see if I could get a photo of Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon). This is an okay shot, but I might try again soon if I get the chance.

Had a bit of time before cloud cover rolled in tonight, so I grabbed a few shots of the moon and the Triangulum Galaxy. The Triangulum Galaxy is the third largest galaxy in our Local Group, after the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way.
