(3) I’ve just learned that BAYWAR is closing. The Bay Area is loosing a resource that supports rape victims.

(2) Once I connected to BAYWAR, an automated voice told me that all the rape counselors were busy, call back later, and disconnected me. It was incredibly isolating and upsetting, but even more upsetting is the thought that there is such an immense need for free and accessible rape counseling,

(1) A few years ago after my I was raped I tried calling the RAINN hotline. It’s constantly recommended. Yet what it does is re-route a caller through to their local rape crisis center. I was connected to Bay Area Women Against Rape (BAYWAR).
