How nice of a print can you get from a Kelsey 6 x 10? This is what I got on my first try of making a 5 layer reduction linocut. Little janky on registration at times but it came together. Beautiful doesn't mean perfect. #birds #letterpress #linocut #printmaking

Spent today messing about with an experiment in my inside studio. Too cold to print in the garage today.

If you are like me and like to leave extra time for Christmas posts, now is the time to order prints from my shop. Remember, your purchases mean the world to small businesses like mine this time of year (Walmart won't miss it!) #birds #chickadee #linocut #letterpress #printmaking

New #Linocut Reduction #Letterpress print. Foothills of the Rocky Mountains are a very special place in autumn. As you walk through the fields in the rural countryside, the breeze inevitably picks up and the leaves weave an intricate dance.

Ok, did not expect “The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe” to feel quite so relevant to this moment.

Here’s Edmund, deciding to side with the leader who he’s been told disappears people.

Printing presses kept their letters in cases.

Capital letters went in the upper case.
Smaller letters went in the lower case.

This is why we say ‘UPPER CASE’ and ‘lower case.’

Ok, but what did we call them before the invention of the printing press?

MAJUSCULE and minuscule.

New #letterpress reduction #linocut print

For a wonderful, brief part of summer the creek is lit up with the songs of Red-winged blackbirds. The males flit from different stalks of marshy plant life while looking for that perfect love interest, doing everything they can to get noticed.

My social media is filled with artists announcing that they are suspending shipments to the US when the de minimis tariff exemptions are removed August 29.

This is devastating for a lot of small businesses. Canadian artists should find artworks still exempt from tariffs (in accordance with CUSMA)

We're living through the Who Cares Era, where completely disposable things are shoddily produced for people to mostly ignore, while the government stomps its uncaring boot on our necks. But there's an easy way to fight back: Care.

Today is Trans Day of Visibility, and now more than ever it's important to remember how much better our world is when people can live their lives without hiding a core part of themselves.

Printing this guy was so much fun, the colours feel like those first few weeks of spring where the greens are still fresh. You can learn more or buy an original print here: www.michellewiebe.com/store/p26/Th...

Okay, I'll play! #printpromptmonday #flipped This #linocut is a very simplified version of a chi-rho page you might find in a manuscript. These #birds are doing all sorts of acrobatics.

This song sparrow was so much fun to print because of the fluffy feathers, a very different texture from other birds I've printed.
