My wife, who was born and raised in Germany, can confirm every word of this.

She once said to me: "The problem with your country is that you have no sense of collective shame."
High school teacher Katharina Matro explains how growing up in Germany and learning about the country’s past “made me a more informed citizen, a more politically aware citizen, a more critical thinker.” #FreedomToLearn #HonestHistory 🗃️

#Museum folk! This incredible advocacy effort would love to involve more museum people. Those who can speak out are so needed in a time when many can't without facing serious consequences. Is that you? Your organization? Get in touch via the contact form at the link linktr.ee/historyteachin

Too bad the GOP effectively criminalized studying how information moves online and news orgs laid off and demonized all the reporters who covered the burgeoning online accelerationist performative death cults. All of that work was somehow "censorship" that needed to be stopped. Now we're here.

At the @aaslh.bsky.social museum summit last week, MC @michellenmoon.bsky.social had us each write a note of encouragement to an anonymous colleague. Then she gave each of us a note as we left. I just read mine & cried. Take care of each other out there!

2/ This week you will read many confused economists and political pundits who won’t understand how the tariffs make economic sense.

That’s because they don’t. They aren’t designed as economic policy. The tariffs are simply a new, super dangerous political tool.

New — Institute of Museum and Library Sciences employees were allowed back in the building this morning to gather belongings after all being put on admin leave by DOGE yesterday. Supporters have gathered in front of the building and staffers inside have posted a visible sign that says "SOS IMLS."

Internet rumors are that Doge occupied IMLS this morning with intent to shut it down. No media present. New acting director Sonderling (already Dep Sec of Labor) was sworn in in the lobby with Homeland Security present to bully and enforce. Represents .004% of the fed budget. Links in comments

Any reporter in #DC, please head to L’Enfant Plaza & see what #DOGE is doing to the 70-employee #IMLS (Institute for Museum & Library Services). The help fund every library in the US.
As we write, DOGE is reportedly inside the gates of the IMLS (Institute for Museum and Library Services), where Keith Sonderling, Deputy Secretary of Labor and “somehow now Acting Director” of IMLS is dismantling the agency that helps libraries be libraries. /1
