This week I am thankful to announce that I got the opportunity to sit down and talk with Ruba Marshood, the CEO of Indy Reads.
If you do not know Ruba, she is compassionate and kind, and she is fiercely dedicated to the Indy Reads vision of "100% Literacy For All."
I hope you'll take time to listen

The Urban Time in Indianapolis is so much more than a newspaper. It’s a way of telling the collective story of downtown Indianapolis.

Bill Brooks has been running the publication for over 30 years. Excited to share our conversation with you.

@williamhazen.bsky.social talks about how Indianapolis empowers people.
This is a common through-line on my podcast. In Indianapolis, you can have an outsized effect for being only an individual or small group.

Hooo boy- this is incredibly concerning. It appears the Central Indiana Land Trust donated this sensitive wetland along Bell’s Creek at 42nd and Mitthoefer to Phalen (a charter school), who is now planning to build their football stadium on top of it.

As a kid, the bus gave me friends, freedom, and stress relief. Now I ride IndyGo buses 3x a week, and get a lot of the same feelings.
That’s why it was an honor to chat with @williamhazen.bsky.social, a third-gen transit operator here in Indy.

As GDC talk applications have opened, I want to politely remind you that GDC remains one of the most inaccessible, unfairly expensive, and dangerous for-profit game industry events out there - and that offering your labour for free to it just adds value that pressures people into going needlessly.

I am still figuring out logistics (and Rami has kindly offered to help a lil!), but I’ve been putting together a means for game devs to present GDC-style ‘talks’ on @playwatchlisten.bsky.social. When it’s public, devs will be able to submit a topic for consideration, and will be paid for their time!

Really interested in how people are "applying to 30+ jobs a day" for me, that means (1) a ton of stuff I have no expertise in (2) a ton of jobs that don't interest me (3) way more work than it's worth in return regarding getting interviews

I feel like at my current pace the hit rate is pretty high
