What a grift.
The New York Times investigated 346 people who donated at least $250,000 to Trump and found that more than half of them (197) have received pardons, jobs, government contracts, special treatment, or favors.
Hundreds of Big Post-Election Donors Have Benefited From Trump’s Return to Office
Well into his second term, the president and his allies have continued aggressively raising money. Many donors have interests before his administration, The Times found.

Literally no one, and particularly no one in this social space, wants to hear this, but I've been missing about with 2nd Gen Meta AI glasses and they're impressive. As usual, best features aren't the ones FB promotes, but if you get away from brainrot content gen -could be new Airpods when smaller.

There is such a massive hole opening up on the Canadian left. If Avi is elected the next NDP leader, and there are 3-4 years to plan, people are gonna be so fed up with the results these guys produce by then and it's gonna be a competitive 3-way election.

This is in response to a post supporting higher ed institutions establishing values and programs that support those values, instead of pursuing latest tech trends, and I think this key. So often "innovation" becomes synonymous with scalability and profitability, but that's not the assignment.
Establishing an innovation protocol that is not tied to profitability is key.

Thinking about how Carney's primary branding was as an pro-environment candidate and one year in he's the opposite - and then remembering JT was a democratic reform candidate in 2015. IMO this sort of stuff can do generational damage to a political brand over time. The promises stop moving ppl.

Mel Hague has left her role of AD @factorytheatre.bsky.social. IMO:
1 The building in a public asset. Any decision on selling the building should not be up to the board or staff without public consultation.
2 Just because someone worked there once should not give them an out-sized voice either.

As someone who travels this route frequently with VIA, this does not surprise me. It often seems that no one is in charge.
Not sure those unfamiliar with the geography of Eastern Ontario appreciate how absurd it is Via forced passengers to sleep overnight at the station in Brockville

Brockville is only an hour and a half drive from Ottawa. Via couldn’t get buses to shuttle them back? How is there no contingency plan?

I did a graduate degree in the US, I have friends there, and this makes me wonder if I will ever go back.

Tourists to US would have to reveal five years of social media activity under new Trump plan
Proposed plan would apply to tourists of all countries, including those not required to get a visa to visit the US

I'm not a Zuck-booster, but FB didn't wast the money they have invested into VR technologies. They're just not profitable rn. Some some of innovation from a hardware perspective is really impressive. The RD also underpins glasses that use AR and AI, which will become pervasive in society IMO.
Mark Zuckerberg’s gamble on the "Metaverse" has lost his company more than $77 billion.

Last weekend I was trying to demo what double-dribble is with the 6 and 7 year old boys i coach. And then they realized the action a ref does to indicate double dribble also means 6 7. Anyhow, they still don't know what double dribble is.

Pretty happy to hear my old classmate and very smart thinker @helenshaw.bsky.social is the new Head Theatre Critic at NYT. I don't live in NYC, so reticent to argue something makes sense too hard, but from the outside as a reader or reviews, I sometimes wondered why this wasn't the case already.

Was about to use AI to ideate on the title for an abstract I'm proposing to a conference and then i was like, "oh yeah this is how that muscle atrophies".

Bookmark this as where the Federal NDP started to become competitive again. No longer everything to all people, the Carney Government's enviro policies are so egregious that credible Ministers must resign. BC and QC are back in play.

Also, who will be in charge of arts and culture now?
This afternoon, I informed the Prime Minister of my decision to resign as Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture, Minister responsible for Official Languages, Minister of Nature and Parks Canada, as well as his Lieutenant in Quebec.

You can find my full statement below.

It's really wild how much BI has unlocked Scottie. I have him in a fantasy 9 category league, and he's the 4 best player in the world if your goal is to contribute to every major statistical category.

Posting about how great Mamdani is on Bluesky is not my most original form of expression, but so often when the campaign ends, even the good guys stop engaging the public. I love this approach to communicating what govt will be and who is thinking about it. (Artists listed 2nd in advisor list.)

A few people have texted me as a known Raptors watcher to ask if i saw this block the other night as if i haven't watched it 14 times. Even tho Scottie's block in the final play seals the game, I think this is the moment TO ball fans realized it will be fun this year.

There’s a very surreal conversation I keep having on here where people seem unable to hold two ideas at the same time, and I’m not sure why. It’s simply true that the Big AI platforms like ChatGPT are:
1. Extremely bad for society, in many ways.
2. Very genuinely popular with lots of people.

Theatre idea: The combined raw materials of the Elon text message archive and the Epstein email archive is a fascinating and large dramatic data set on how the 0.001% operates and talks to each other. Most be something worth staging for an audience to consider in here.

I just, i don't understand why the Epstein/Trump thing is front page news in many countries. We know Trump committed repeated sexual assaults and that he is a sexual predator. (Access Hollywood anyone?) What new about doing it with a specific billionaire moves the needle for millions of people?
