TIL For a number of years I've had a diagnosed essential tremor. In the past few yrs it's gotten worse. Today I saw a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders. I have Parkinson's it turns out. Now I know why I feel like a broken machine.
Does anyone else feel as though the current tech duldrums might be at last in part the result of code camps and vibe coding?

My best useless talent is tongue twisters. Toy boat toy boat toy boat.

Are you ever amazed that flowers every bit as beautiful as the ones in gardens are everywhere doing their thing without our help?

"We have a deeply stupid government."

We wanted Europe to increase defense spending. Now they are. To defend themselves from us. And Marco Rubio hisses and sputters that it's no fair they don't want to buy our weapons anymore. For some reason 🤣

I went to get groceries (now there's a beautiful new word, you might not know it yet) and was unnerved at how much produce comes from Mexico.

Me, a 25 year broadband policy expert: Ezra Klein's complaints about rural broadband suggest he didn't do his research because he misrepresents some programs, and ignores others that accomplished exactly what he's asking for.

Klein fans: you just don't understand what he's saying!

Thank goodness we finally have an administration with the courage and resolve to take on Big Penguin.

This hits a little differently in 2025 than it did in 1997.

I had to look up who Morgan Wallen is. I'll say this. He's a very obnoxious looking guy.

AI enthusiasts were the kids who thought Isaac Asimov and Ayn Rand were masters of English prose. It explains a lot.

Twitter and Threads have demonstrated that a poorly thought out algorithm is rife with problems. Bluesky has shown that, unless you're already a Bigfoot with a huge readymade community of worshipers, no algorithm is the worst option of all for the lowly folk.

I accomplished 2 tasks today. I really should do that again sometime.

Here's the problem with self-medication. In the absence of alternatives, it kinda works. Not well and it often makes things worse, but sometimes better than nothing or than the stuff that's handed out without a 2nd thought or any follow through.

I am not in any way a cancer warrior or survivor. I'm mostly just lucky (so far).

Made papadam for the 2nd time. Pressed and rolled much thinner and didn't dry them quite as much. Big improvement. Next time I'll dry slightly less and fry in somewhat cooler oil. But together with mango chutney they're great!

First spring flowers in Austin greenspace. No attempt identify yet. All are tiny.
I recognize crow poison/rainweed.

Another early spring flower in austin. Google wants to say it's a petunia. Do you agree?

Crow poison cropped and tweaked a little. Also called rainweed. We had a little rain tho other night. There may be a lot 🤞today and Friday so I'll have another look. These are actually tiny little lilies.
