During Wednesday's lecture, we discussed deplatforming and its effects. This can reduce reach, hurt other platform followers, and reduce hate speech. For example, Donald Trump got deplatformed in 2021 after the Jan 6 riots. What's an ex of someone who you think should be deplaformed? #UWJ201 #319

This week we've been talking about persuasion and the 6 main forms of it being authority, likability, social proof, scarcity, reciprocity, and consistency. Personally I find that social proof and scarcity get me to buy something/do something. What form do you find persuades you most? #UWJ202 #319

Discussing dis and misinformation this week, it appears that there is a lot of fake news spread through many different ways. With the 7 types, false context is the most common form which I often see during political campaigns. What was a time you spread misinformation? #UWJ201 #319

On Wednesday, we talked about perceived media influence, thinking that other people are thinking about things so we think about them and do them (such as thinness). I've definitely noticed this in my life, such as having a clean room. What are ways you yourself acted perceived influence?#UWJ201 #319

When talking about advocacy campaigns, SC Johnson's ZuZu at the Oscar's was a cute, so far successful example of a large corporation trying to gain support by showing care for an issue and taking ownership of wrongdoings. What are other successful advocacy campaigns by mega companies? #UWJ201 #319

We discussed how characters in television are all typically displayed as young, attractive, and villains are disproportionately nonwhite, lower class individuals. Ads also tended to target non-attractive qualities. What are the correlations between these and their effects on viewers? #UWJ201 #319

During the ads lecture today I felt like some "act now" methods I didn't even realize were happening but are so easy to see now like bonuses, limited time only, and exclusive pricing. I've fallen for these before, but I wonder how much more people buy when offered these act now tactics? #UWJ201 #319

During Monday’s lecture, we talked about the alarm-patrol model which one of our readings was about as well. I understand the cop comparison and I actually agree with it, not in the danger way but in observing and acting. Do you think you see more patrols or alarms in journalism? #UWJ201 #319

During Wednesday's lecture, we touched on social media, and I related to this as social media is very present in my daily news intake. Essentially, we should be skeptical of the news we see on social media, but often we aren't. How do you verify if a news story seen on socials is true? #UWJ201 #319

During Friday's lecture, we discussed how communication is being de-massified, such as in personalized ads. This is done through collecting data such as cookies and different things we search online. How often do you think about the data you give to different sites before using them? #UWJ201 #319
