New year, new paper! 🎉

Be sure to check this one out!
The social impacts of speech sound disorder (SSD) are underexplored, especially in young children. Two tasks eliciting preschoolers' social judgments of SSD speech revealed a preference for typical speech as early as age 4. https://on.asha.org/4spAO7I

As a former student and clinician who often poked around on @carolinebowen.bsky.social website (aka treasure trove) of resources on #childSPEECHdis to gain insight, it is such an honor for this paper to be featured on the site as a resource for clinicians! What a way to close out 2025, cheers!! 🥳🥂
Speechwoman ends 2025 on a high note with an important article for her Dec Site of the Month. It's about the impacts of #childSPEECHdis on a child's friendships & other relationships. @mhhenry.bsky.social 👏@ashajournals.bsky.social www.speech-language-therapy.com/index.php?op... #apraxia #dysarthria

If you’re at ASHA, you should come to one of my talks on Friday! I’m looking forward to sharing data before one of these comes out as a paper, and both are relevant for school SLPs working with preschool and early school-age populations! #ASHA2025 #SchoolSLP #ASHA #SLP #SLP2Be #SLPLife #PhDLife

This stuff happens when people who don’t like or know science, try to be experts… pure ignorance…
Trump’s anti-trans Executive Order is bad BUT it technically defines everyone as female. It states:

“'Female' means a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell."

Since all fetuses "at conception" are female, Trump just defined EVERYONE as female.

When that first manuscript rejection hits 🫠

In actuality, I’m really excited that I tried for a new audience, and I feel like the feedback was constructive and positive! After a grounding nap, it’ll be time to work on revisions and move forward!

Here’s to the first of [not too] many rejections 🍻

Less than a day on here, and I’ve noticed that instead of random bots following me every day there are REAL people who I’m actually interested in interacting with!
