This amphipod in the family Caprellidae, has feather-like setae line several of their 18 appendages for collecting food — amphipod translates to “feet on all sides” in Greek.

Given that at least 50% of all biodiversity is unknown to science , the answer is obviously yes!
TLDR; it is too early to stop doing taxonomic & natural history work and exclusively do meta-analysis; our existing datasets are highly structured & biology is weird. we shouldn't assume we already know enough to extrapolate a species' needs for conservation- we still need taxonomy & autecology

Versatile fairy shrimp have gone back into dried mud at Clark Dry Lake. They are best known for producing incredibly hardy, drought-resistant eggs (cysts) that can survive for decades in dry mud, extreme temperatures (-310F to 210F), and even outer space (Photos: Sicco Rood).

College students over the past 5 years have been traumatized,

and yet, they proceed and continue to inspire me
Feels like society’s really broken down in the US in a way that’s deeply traumatic.

But also there are college students knocking on doors asking for shovels (they’re not well-prepared) and helping trapped motorists by shoveling and pushing out cars. Up to 24 of them now, wandering streets together
