Iron Age cauldrons: what were they actually used for? Making huge amounts of soup, stews or even porridge? Or were they used by brewers to heat the water for the mash? Its a good question.
In some places, Scandinavia for example, there are brewers who still do this. Its a living tradition. #brewing

Can hardly believe this was done almost ten years ago. An attempt at mashing in, Epi Palaeolithic style, just like they did at Gobekli Tepe. Ancient grains. Limestone troughs. Hot rocks. No mention of malt in this article, an essential ingredient for a beer brewer. 🍺

Over the years we have encountered a lot of doubt and suspicion from archaeologists when we try to talk about potential evidence for malting and brewing in prehistory. Even Iron Age. There's a FB page that refuses to publish my comments but they're happy to discuss 'special foods', soups and stews.

You can't tell, but I can, that I have finally moved onto my shiny new phone. Tech support son did this for me. Pure wizardry as far as I am concerned. Would have taken me hours of stress and panic. Took him half an hour or so. And it all looks just the same. Except it now works properly.
