One thing to think about, as @edtubb.bsky.social always notes: Trump never threatens to make Mexico the 51st state. He wants Canada.
I guess the remarkable thing here is that there’s not even a nominal “concession” from Sheinbaum. Nothing changed between yesterday and today on migration or drug policy, but the tariffs are gone. He backed down without an excuse.
