One 'problem' with collecting picture books is that you need to pack them up to move house... I have nearly 300 of them, so far in 3 boxes & still some don't fit... wonder if I need to reduce what I have & just keep my faves?

After months of searching, inspecting, and applying, I've been approved for a new rental!! I'll be moving soon & starting the next chapter of my life...

The thought of getting everything sorted & packed up, is overwhelming!

Last year, I wrote an article about 'active' books for those with ADHD. This week, I expanded it and have just uploaded the ebook to KDP. It's around 3000 words and will be done as a print book too. It was a lot of fun creating this mini book, I can see more on the horizon :)

I have been considering changing DES providers, so have been ringing a few to see if they can actually support me... it's fascinating how few of them understand basics of disability or have a very narrow view of it. Plus no idea on how to make an office safe for immunocompromised people!

The election will certainly be interesting. I don't feel either of the two major parties really care about cost of living... not when it really comes down to it

For many autistic people, being able to live alone is important... the only places we can find that are affordable on DSP with 1 bedroom are share houses. To say this is not ideal is an understatement

Looking around at houses for the kid & came across this listing... it looks like the owner has cut bedrooms in half for student accommodation!

Back in 1996, I lived in a share house in Geelong for $40 a week. According to an inflation calculator, the rate in 2023 should be $80.61...

We were looking on Realestate .com.au for rentals and a room in a share house, comparable to the place I lived, is $170 a week!

I was an undiagnosed autistic ADHD parent. I often comment that no one is talking much about that... it hit me that maybe I need to do that...

Super frustrated that my dreams are on hold simply because of money... and watching others do what I want to do because they have money...

Seriously considering putting up my KoFi link or similar to get help with financing my bookshop (I don't need much to get started)

Waiting for a call from the DES provider... they are over half an hour late.

The funny thing is, if I was this late, I would be penalised, but there is nothing if they are this late...

Late last year, I was explaining to the kids in writers group why ChatGPT wasn't a great program to use for research, none of them had had it explained to them before (I'm sure their teachers did but they may not have been paying complete attention at the time or just told not to use AI but not why)
One of the most disturbing findings: “just over half of teens say it’s acceptable to use ChatGPT to research new topics (54%). Only 9% say it is not acceptable to use it for this.”
About a quarter of U.S. teens have used ChatGPT for schoolwork – double the share in 2023
Teens are far more likely to say it’s acceptable to use ChatGPT for research (54%) than for math problems (29%) and essays (18%).

Surgery on my tooth went well this morning. The dentist was great, explaining everything as he went, and this made a huge difference to my anxiety. I'm on strong pain killers & have been eating ice cream & jelly all day, as well as doing a lot of dozing on the couch. Glad tooth is finally gone

I have dental surgery in a bit over an hour and my anxiety levels are super high. I know I'll be fine, but that doesn't stop the anxiety.

This is what scares me. I put my life on hold caring for my kids, I'm burned out from that & juggling work that wasn't a high income. I don't get supports to get out of burn out. I'm scared of being homeless...
A major reason older women face homelessness is they put caring for children, ageing parents etc ahead of their own need to earn an income. Caring was what they had been told to do since childhood. What no one mentioned was the terrible price many would have 2pay www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
My homelessness was temporary. But for many older women like me, a house is becoming out of reach | Susan Francis
Having your own home, even your own room, equates to freedom and necessary privacy. All older women should have such a place

I'm watching a cheesy RomCom. The scene I've enjoyed most is a bunch of kids throwing snowballs at the paparazzi set up outside the home of the main character... lol

These movies are a nice way to relax as they are so predictable & I don't have to think or pay too much attention...
